Cambridge start Sedge away......(get ready Tiger).......Cinders at home.......Barking away.....Macclesfield away.....once again 3 away out of first 4......does anyone know why they arent just home/away etc? This happens every year and i have never heard a convincing explanation yet.

The jocks are home to Blackheath and Tynedale entertain Coventry......a few years ago that would have sounded like a lop sided cup match.....but the hot money will be on a home win.
How things change.

I'm quite taken by the 'green machine' having to travel to Redruth for their opening fixture.

At least the Christmas fixtures have had some thought attached this season - well done whoever took the initiative on that one

B&S. Tyne had the same thing this year. Doesn't make sense to me, but perhaps there are underlying factors such as certain grounds not available on certain dates. Otherwise, I am sure a mathematician could prove that 30 fixtures could be created for 16 teams without this happening. AFAIK, the opening day fixture has its reverse on the closing date and as for the other fixtures, well at the halfway point, you just start playing fixtures 2-15 in reverse. Still, I would rather start off with a handful of away games than end up with a pile of them outstanding.

When are you hosting Tyne? I am working in Africa for a while but hope my time at home will coincide with what for me is a must see fixture. I haven't found a fixture list on line yet. And this year I promise to say hello (well I usually try to be polite)

First 4 games in the London area will do nicely for Scottish, followed by a visit to Otley. Could have been a lot worse. Big smile

All fixtures are at the following link:

Scottish v Club... couldn't have asked for a more exciting start to the season. A match that should test the exiles' ambitions.
Coventry could have hoped for a better introduction to Div 1. An away visit to Tynedale is always a difficult fixture.
It pays to be wise after the event!!!

Apparently Rosslyn Park are playing back-to-back home games on the 22 January against Redruth and Barking. Do we toss a coin to see who plays first?

If you follow the pattern I think Barking are away to Macclesfield that day, an NCA typo!

Tynedale have got an interesting game on 30 Oct - the list suggests they are playing against themselves!  Think it should read Tynedale v Otley.

Thanks FL but still no good. However, I can find the 2 South fixtures. It sounds as though there may be some amendments anyway so I'll wait. At least I know our first home game.

I agree B&S. Surely it can't be rocket science to have a balanced home and away sequence. It becomes more difficult to maintain spectator and sponsors interest when home games follow each other in close order and it's tough on players and coaches in the case of successive away matches. A few years ago when Fylde were in N1 their opening two matches of the season were both away, at Penzance & N and then Launceston - a total of 1400 miles! An extreme, perhaps, but these silly occurences still happen. Please, NCA, sort this out in the future.

You can NOT have alternate home and away games for clubs in a 16 team game.

8 teams start at home & 8 teams start away.
The eight teams that start at home can play the eight teams that start away alternately Home & Away.
However they can not play any of the other 7 teams that start at home without some teams playing two successive games either home or away

I think the return fixture may be most interesting too Longtime.
Once you have bought that round that you keep promising, I will then have to wait the whole season before I am able to do the same in return.  Hope I dont forget ! Wink

As it is 30 games to be played 15 x 2. The first game played becomes the last game at the end of the season, the second game becomes the first game played in the second half of the season. That is the present format and perhaps for some controversial. Some clubs therefore feature with a difficult start, 7 teams with 9 away games in 2010. If any one team starts with an advantage this season it is London Scottish who have 8 home, 8 away games in 2010 and yet feature at home on the first Saturday after the Xmas/New Year break. Weight your predictions accordingly.
