Scottish score an exceptional try running the length of the field

Ben Mosses again. Now 19 - 35. Centre's having a field day, much to be one elsewhere.

If you had paid attention to the format that is effectively what it is. I doubt RP's scoreboard copes with this daft format.

The format - if you had paid ANY attention was 30 / 30 / 20 with totally different line ups for each third. Ok, I will acknowledge that 30 / 30 / 20 isn't exactly thirds, but it's a lot closer than halfs !!!!!

At any rate, kibitzing from Number 7 apart (ok we all want to comment on something, and mostly have eff all right now), the result was a win to LS by 47 - 24. Very difficult to take many conclusions from this, too many sets of payers out there, in different sessions. The plus for me Neal and Mosses at 12 / 13, but that's what I would have hoped for anyway.

Big round of 👏👏👏👏👏👏 to RP who put this on for free admission and I hope they gleaned what they hoped for from the game.

Bedford 43 Plymouth 7

A good game to watch and nice to have rugby back! Plymouth looked a good side and 12-7 was the half time score. Saracens next week for us...

Worcester Warriors 55 Hartpury 21
Very strong performance from Hartpury - fierce tackling and very positive play throughout. They look as if they could have a very positive first season in the Championship.
Déjà vu? I’ve seen it all before!

Jersey Reds 26 - Coventry 17,  good first half for us but then went to sleep a bit and Coventry could feel disappointed they didn't convert any of their many chances. Good to see over 1000 turn up to watch. No real standout players perhaps but I liked the look of new full back Scott van Breda.
Much tougher test next week away against Harlequins
Come on Jersey........

Lovely afternoon at the sunny Mennaye ( a rarity this summer). Pirates looked sharper than at the same stage last season. Set piece was solid and defence very organised and committed. If we don't get too many injuries we should be OK this season.

Top quality at St Peter this afternoon. Coventry were always competitive - if someone beats them to promotion this year I hope its Albion or Mose. Coventry were brilliant and did their fans more than proud.

Jersey's lineout today was near magnificent particularly the throwing in by the young hooker. a couple of real howlers in the mid field defence but the sun shone and came home to calves liver and a bottle of rioja - does life get better?

Pinotage for me :)

Worked this afternoon, but sold a nice Chateau Musar 2006, quite fancied it for myself.

Very content Cov supporter here just finished the house red at Mano's. A little more care not to give away penalties in the first half and who knows? Jersey's pack was large (and Cov's is hardly small) but didn't look as dangerous as last season, and Cov's fitness was looking very good towards the end. Both the development players in the Cov team did well, and although a couple of players came away a bit battered (particularly Brett Daybed with a flying knee to the breastbone) it sounds as if all should be fit for the home game against Rotherham coming up soon. A very enjoyable day!

Jersey's pack is always large, it's just a question of degree. I'm looking forward to an exchange of statistics this season, I may have an ace in the hole.

Other than that, it seems we are all mellow, comparing the 🍷🍷 that is being imbibulated. Can't see that changing too much even in open season. 🥃🥃

Bristol 31 - 34 Barf

Again played in quarters and it was all Barf really in the first two quarters and we were 27 points down at this point. But change of players half time saw us hit back with three unanswered try's, a couple of more minutes and who knows Wink

Really enjoyed yesterday's game in Jersey against a very capable Coventry side. Jersey won without dominating and this was far from a polished performance by the Reds, but I can see the roots of a decent side there. Strangely, I felt that we were most vulnerable when we had the ball (does that make sense?) and our tackling was very solid. Wonderful to see Latu back at the club, enjoying a prolonged cuddle with some of his old teammates in the middle of the park, I just wished that they had waited until after the game to show that level of affection!!

What did we learn? Not a lot as we only got to see half of the squad play, but once the team settles and gets more game time under their belts, we could have quite a competitive side.... we shall see
