Quite likely; he's been on loan there for a while.

Clifton have been busy raiding Stourbridge for a prop (Jack Spencer) and no 8 ( Niall Gibbons) and have benefitted from Neath going pop to secure a monster 2nd row ( Matthew Davies).

They have also secured a flanker (Cam Terry) and full back (Reece Dunn) both Gloucester Academy players.

All the above are in the match day squad I believe this weekend.

The Cinderford backrow player they had been chatting with has proved his worth at his home club and now is remaining in the Forest playing a higher level.

Clifton are targeting a few other players to ensure their survival in National 2 so watch this space.

So its cheque book Clifton this season. with their gates it has to be. At least Worthing grow from within.
I know which set up I prefer.

Yes most clubs in the league are paying players, most are open and honest re this, a few are still hiding the fact. A guess the RFU and HMRC will be checking as I hear in the grape vine a task force will be selecting clubs to visit.

Think that big Alfie is not flavour of the month and he will be the first culled meaning a big saving and money maybe better spent elsewhere.

Also the blue and black boys up the road will have a few player moving across, 2nd row Shek Sheriff I understand is joining, along with a winger and another back.

I'm 100% certain that it's not "most" clubs at this level. It's "all" - the only difference is that the amounts vary and some may dress it up a little differently.

Interesting comment re Alfie - when he started with Clifton we were told he just rocked up and asked to play, certainly no mention of paying him.

Nothing wrong with paying players, every club does at this level (some directly some via third parties paying players)

Clifton played well yesterday, using their large pack to good effect -whilst Worthing seemed to struggle to get into their running game, really missing scrum-half Matt Walsh

When he just rocked up ....... I understand that rent on a house, club car and a retainer .... no question there.

As re all the clubs, yes I agree but there are still a few paying via the back door and missing the PAYE regs.

Surely it is your duty to hand all over the evidence of this to the relevant authorities?

Or have you already done so?

Ricky Aley leaves Stourbridge with immediate effect.

Same week Ben Palmer leaves south Leicester.

Any coincidence in this? Or is Aley about to rejoin with former mentor and employer Tim Cooke?

Henley have signed full back Ben Bolster from Dings and have Greg Goodfellow on loan from Chinnor, both make their debut this Saturday against Old Redcliffians.

No need as Clifton are very transparent in making themselves a club that use PAYE.

I guess it depends if the other BIK items are declared....

Time will tell on the clubs that don’t use PAYE and have sponsors that fund a player or pay the player via the back door for coaching services that don’t actually happen.

Looks like some double entry book-keeping going on.
It's only a game

Anybody know much about Bolster and Goodfellow that have gone to Henley?
Is this Henley trying to make a push for the playoff spot? I see Rams have all but won the league. I wonder how these teams will fare up in National 1.

Goodfellow previously played for Redruth & Chinnor. Not the most apt name is all I will say.
