Read in Rugby Times last week that former Wakefield and London Welsh scrum-half Alex Birkby has had to retire.  I think he only had one season in Richmond before heading off to Cambridge University, from where he moved to Shelford.

There can't be many former Wakefield players left playing in the National Leagues, can there?

Sad news about Alex.

Lee Cholewa just down the road is the nearest to you Mark.

There are still a few knocking around but numbers are decling but there are probably still enough playing at all levels to fill a XV.

Off the top of my head - not quite all National Leagues. I tried to keep it all English based but then struggled for a second row, so stretched it to France, where we also have Dan Scarborough and Richard List playing plus Warren Spragg in Italy.

I reckon you do yourself down as 'Nat' is in the title!

Thanks for the side, Richard - a number of familiar names there and I was only a week ago wondering what ex-Rugby Lion Richard List was doing.

What club is he at please?
