I have heard numerous stories of people waiting terribly long periods for an ambulance to arrive, be it at a match or not.

One recently in rugby league where a player with a complex ankle break and dislocation was eventually put on the team bus and taken to A&E after waiting 3 hours in vain.

Yesterday at the match I was at (level 4) a player with a shoulder dislocation with symptoms that indicated urgent attention was vital was given a similar time scale for an ambulance and was taken for a very painful ride by car.

Firstly - the government needs to hang its head in shame for the decimation of a fine service; secondly - do any clubs have a plan for what to do in such circumstances?

My advice would be; if it all practical, get the player/person to Hospital any way you can.

We had a similar situation at Cinderford this season with an ankle break and the player was taken by the team doctor in the home physios car to the hospital after a lengthy wait
