Why have the RFU not made a statement of condolence regarding the sudden death of the Rugby League player Danny Jones who had a heart attack and died whilst playing the sport this weekend.
I know we have our differences between the codes but this transcends all that and I would strongly urge all rugby supporters to contribute to the fund set up in his memory https://www.justgiving.com/dannyjones29
He leaves a wife and 5 month old baby twins. Come on RFU, show some compassion and support!

The RFU cannot be seen as interfering in the matters of another sport.

As to giving to support Danny Jones's family, you would probably get more support for this good cause by posting under an appropriate heading rather than an antagonistic anti-RFU one that most people will ignore.

Why haven't the NSWRL or ARL made a similar statement of condolence about rugby union player Nicholas Tooth, who died following a head injury in a match last month?

Why haven't the French or Irish RL governing bodies, or the FA, ECB or Basketball England made a statement about Danny Jones?

What happened to Danny is a tragedy, and my sincerest condolences go to his family and friends, but I don't see the absence of an official statement from the governing body of a different sport as sinister or deplorable.

You could always pop along to Keighley's game on Sunday. Filling the ground would be a more meaningful way of showing your support/respect.
One third of the gate receipts will go to Danny's wife and twins.
Surely better than moaning about it?

I have personally made a contribution as have many others from all different sporting backgrounds.

What I find really shameful is that I wrote a very simple polite legality to the RFU asking if they had any plans to at least release a press release expressing their condolences over a week ago and I have not even had the courtesy of an acknowledgement yet alone a reply.

As someone who has been a financial community backer of rugby clubs throughout my life I shall be seriously considering why "community" has been removed from the sport and replaced by the word "business".

It's certainly not the sport I used to know!

Running a stadium? Paying players? All those other things that you have to cover every time you play a home game?
