Ben Pearson is a 22 year old amateur Rugby player at Ealing Trailfinders . He had an horrendous double break of fibia and tibia ( lower leg ) . He truly loved his rugby and after a year long battle and 13 operations he had his leg amputated below the knee last Friday.

There is a gala Benefit dinner organised for Friday 20th September. Mike Gooley and Fiona his wife have pledged  to match whatever can be raised by the club.

Places are selling fast for the Gala Dinner to raise funds for Ben Pearson!

A smart Dress Code of suits and Huckleberrytail dresses will add to the eagerly anticipated evening at Trailfinders Sports Club.

Some of the most recognisable faces in European rugby will be in attendance at the Ealing Trailfinders World Cup Gala Dinner.

Former France Captain Serge Betsen, Italy legend Andrea Masi, Premiership winner Christian Day and referee J.P. Doyle will take part in a World Cup Q&A, hosted by Simon Ward to look ahead to the tournament as we look to raise funds for Ben Pearson.

Ben, who is only 22 years old broke his leg whilst playing for the amateur team in April 2018 and unfortunately a straightforward procedure to repair the breaks, turned into 13 operations and numerous infections.

This resulted in Ben having to change hospitals, a stint in a wheelchair, wearing a leg cage and finally a boot, all of this without regaining proper use of his leg.

The last year has been a struggle for him to get back to some sort of normality and this has led Ben to look at how he can improve his long-term quality of life, and he has made the brave decision to have part of his leg amputated.

The event will include a 3-course dinner, Guests speakers (World Cup theme), Casino, Auction and much more.

You may book as an individual, or take a table, £75 per head. To book email info@etprm.com

There is a picture of Ben  ( 5th Aug ) It also shows USA International Andrew Durutalo visiting Ben on the ward.

When Ben was able he turned his hand to coaching when he was fitted with an external cage on his leg !. He has had experience coaching with Ealing U16`s last season and had started to coach Ealing U18`s pre season. He intends to further his coaching with Ealing Trailfinders.

Ben has received two video messages from International players !. When he first broke his leg over a year ago he received a long message from New Zealand All Black Sonny Bill Williams. He also sent over a signed All Black shirt.

More recently Joe Marler sent an heart felt message and told Ben to his own best mate who had also lost a leg due to bone cancer. He encouraged Ben to " keep his spirits up" He offered to help in any way possible.

Can't make the dinner but is there a Go Fund Me or similar page?

I am attending with several past players and their better halves. There are tables for supporters , pro players, Ealing past players, Ben`s family and friends, the amateur section of the club have several tables booked, etc.

There is going to be a Q & A for J P Doyle and International players. Maybe we should invite the exec committee of the RFU and offer a Q & A LOL. Anyone have any questions they want answered ?

The IPF are the official injured players foundation . A RFU organisation. I must say they have been brilliant with support for Ben Pearson .
