Rugby players/supporters used to be lubricated mostly by beer, but that seems to have be 'so last millennium' at Caldy...Tongue

A dry, sunny but cool day at Caldy in prospect.

Perfect conditions for running rugby and as the spring sunshine warms Caldy's bank I just hope the past players attending today's crucial match are still standing after their pot noodle fantasia to urge Caldy to victory...........for many the urge does not present it self so often these days so they should make it count today....

I know our visitors are rather grander than Caldy are used to hosting and their past players have included Princes and other rugby royalty. They may have had amongst their members a certain Lord of the realm who similarly was generally lacking the urge in his later years.

One Saturday as the butler brought his Lordship's breakfast into the bedroom he couldn't fail to notice his proud and flagrant stiffness. Quickly covering it with a copy of the Times the butler enquired softly

'Your Lordship shall I summon her Ladyship or shall we smuggle this to London?'

Big Degs is the leader of The Caldy Ravers Exec Club and his formidable presence will stiffen our resolve at today’s off site luncheon. Being a generous man he has baked a cake for the occasion. Unfortunately knowing my experience and judgement of Degsy’s Eccles cakes Mrs Bolognese is now expecting every mouthful to transport her to heaven

Yes they went down at the end of the 2016/17 season after 9 years in National 1. I believe they were Blackheath’s final league visitors at Rectory Field before Club departed for Eltham
