CPK
I think the defence for Doncaster is suspect out wide  in the backs
Our forwards look strong.
Pity I cannot be there.
Have one in the Lamplighter for me.
I am awaiting the Corporals prediction !

Jersey's recent form points me that way EM. When Jersey hit form they are almost unstoppable but they also produce games like the recent home match against Scottish when they don't turn up. I hope for a good match tonight and expect it to be close at the end.
Dont kick it. Pick it up and GO FORWARD.

Ealing Trailfinders team to play Hartpury on Saturday 2nd March at Trailfinders Sports Club in Round 16 of the Greene King IPA Championship: A much changed squad from the one that put over half a century on Pirates last weekend. The front row changes completely, but that doesn't concern me overly much as all of the players that we've rotated are quality. Onojaife at 4 will have something to prove with Landry still on International duty for the U.S. - surprised not to see Kirwan at least in the subs as Onojaife has struggled with getting push at times. Back row gets Durutalo back in a starting jersey, but I'm surprised to see neither Kieran Murphy or Rohan O'Regan in the squad as both have played very well, in particular Murphy. The extra-large lineup that we had to play due to injuries was actually very effective at breaking the gainline and sucking in defenders to create space for Burns. Jordy Reid continues to be out due to injury, and he'll be missed defensively, however I'm starting to think that our attack is better without him as he has butter fingers and tends to run directly into huge packs of players. Finally, slightly surprised to see Johnston in the centre position with Lewis Jones available again, and no JCR at 11 following (I believe) 3 tries in the last 2 weeks. I think this squad can win, but I'm not a fan of the lack of continuity.

15 Peter Lydon 14 Will Harries 13 David Johnston 12 Harry Sloan 11 Seb Stegmann 10 Laurence May 9 Jordan Burns 1 Jordan Els 2 Alun Walker 3 Elliot Millar Mills 4 Jordan Onojaife 5 Harry Casson 6 Sam Dickinson 7 Andrew Durutalo 8 Rayn Smid ©

Replacements:

16 Matt Cornish 17 Matt Beesley 18 Mark Tampin 19 Max Davies 20 George Edgson 21 Ryan Foley 22 Lewis Jones

I see that Hartpury have included Ben Vellacot and Lewis Ludlum from Gloucester and Tiff Eden of Bristol for the game against Ealing.
This is taking the pi$$ and makes a mockery of the championship and its regulations.

Any chance of London Scottish getting a loan of three players from the Scotland squad just to even things up?

It's more the Championship regulations making a mockery of rugby.

Sunny in St Ouens at the moment but no where near as warm as earlier this week. Light to moderate breeze forecast for this evening with a chance of rain. Radio Jersey will have live commentary from 7pm but no sign on the offy of any televised match this week: https://www.championshiprugby.co.uk/news/championship-round-16-preview/

On a narrow pitch like St Peter Donny's defence out wide should not be a major concern.

EM has some concerns regarding a certain team member whom we shall not mention, I do not carry the same concerns by the way, EM it has been a pleasant day so far, spent the day touring the northern end of the island with a friend who lives here, the wind is not bad but should benefit both teams for one half tonight.

CC I am bringing two locals, born and bred, tonight who have never been before - if a good game follows you might find two new converts to the game on the island
Onward and Upwards C'mon Donny!

Bedford Blues 4 vs Carnegie 1 ... Could be a tight game this, think that BB will win, but will not have it all their own way.

Jersey Reds 4 vs Doncaster Knights ... Always tight, always a battle up front. Should be great conditions though, so we may be surprised with some running stuff.

Nottingham 2 vs Cornish Pirates 5 ... Could be a really good game this. I have changed my prediction about 3 or 4 times now. Oh to hell with it, Pirates to win a stormer of a game.

Ealing Trailfinders 5 vs Hartpury 0 ... Let's hope that a form 'TEAM' outplay and easily beat hired help.

Coventry 4 vs Richmond 1 ... Another tough game to predict, but I think Cov by the odd score.

London Irish 5 vs London Scottish 0 ... Should be a regulation home win this one. Then again, I thought the same when we played them at home a few weeks ago!!

I'll bring them a bottle of St Ouen's finest blackcurrant rum to convert them however the game turns out.  I still expect a close match tonight and hope Islander is right about the rain holding off until after the match.

very late predictions from me this week:
Bedford 1-4 Leeds - hopefully i'm wrong but I think Carnegie will sneak this one.
Jersey 5-1 Doncaster - Jersey will probably win this at home.
Nottingham 4-1 Cornish Pirates - think Nottingham will edge a close and interesting game.
Ealing 5-1 Hartpury College - Ealing should have too much for Hartpury but College could get a bonus point, possibly two.
Coventry 1-4 Richmond - against the grain I know but Richmond may have more motivation.
London Irish 5-0 London Scottish - Scottish seem to be playing well but they'd have to play the house down to get anything from this one. hopefully Scottish can surprise.
