Sadly his kicking was unreliable, whether through injury or other issues.
A great shame.

Sharp wasn't ever a reliable goalkicker for Blues, but was never needed to be as being a top 4 club we generally dealt with tries instead.  He was a super creative player in open play with both his kicking and hands, however, I am also aware that he has always had injury issues.

Wonder if he may come back to us, as Blues only have 1 fly half and he would be a great back up.

For most of his blues career he also played alongside Pritchard so was never required to kick. Iā€™d welcome him back as cover for Hooley with Sheppard out for the season.

Jake had a hard job convincing the supporters on arriving at Cov, displacing a very popular young fly half - Will Maisey. Will had been players and supporters player of the season in 16-17 (amd most improved plasyer?) and while his performance stats in 17-18 hadn't been as good had still had an excellent season. Jake arroved in recovery from a back injurty, and looked very lacklustre in pre-season. He was rested fpr the first couple of weeks, Maisey playing, then played 3, rested 1, played 2, rested 1, before the cup competition started. So, he got a reasonable chance to prove himself.
Unfortunately pretty well every time he played, although we saw some classy intelligent play, usually from hand, we also saw some absolute howlers. Missed 'sitters' on penalties, long cross field kickc to touch going out on the full, that sort of thing.
He played in a friendly against Canada on 6th November and hasn't featured since, Will Maisey playing at 10. Cov have several other backs who are nominally 10s - one of whom, Tony Feenner, has been having an excellent season as a utility back covering everywhere, so I suspect the management decided that an expensive player who was not performing and could be covered comfortably was too much of an expensiove luxury.

I thought when Coventry beat Bedford earlier in the season, bar one silly missed penalty under the posts, Sharpy was causing havoc all game long. Best playmaker in the league on his day but very inconsistent. Still, Iā€™d take him back and I think some of his best blues moments came off the bench turning a game around which is a role he could take nicely with Hooley a nailed on starter these days.

You're possibly right Bluesman, to an extent.
Some of his passing out of the tackle (and timing) was sublime at times, but he never looked fit, and as stated above, some of the howlers he made played him out of the team. Maisey has started to come good now, too, and with the back-up we have at 10 in the squad and out on loan, his days were numbered.
I suspect we never saw the best of him though, and I wish him all the best wherever he ends up.

As expected, Jake Sharp rejoins Bedford until the end of the season. Good move for all parties.

Yes, great addition as cover for Blues.

Ironically Dan Lewis would have had a lot of game time this year, more than he's had at Coventry so far.

Great news at the pirates with the re-signing of fly half Will Cargill and number 8 Tom Duncan on 2 year contracts.

Hope Jake's return to Bedford doesn't come back to bite us. Unfairly criticised in my eyes for not running the show behind a struggling pack at a time when our other fly half was also struggling. I think he could have become a crowd favourite.

A great Xmas present for Pirate fans with last nights announcement that coaches Gavin Cattle and Alan Paver have signed 3 year contracts to remain at the club until 2022.

The Knights have strengthened their squad ahead of returning to Championship action against Yorkshire Carnegie on Saturday with the latest addition of Lasha Lomidze.

The Georgian International has a wealth of experience across Europe, having played in England, France, Russia and Georgia.

Lasha who can play at either lock, blindside flanker or No. 8, has played 46 times for Georgia including appearances at the 2015 World Cup where eventual winners New Zealand were their opponents in Pool C.

And Ealing have announced that he is off, but with a recall clause in case of injury.

I suspect the recall clause is in case of injury to other players thus needing him themselves.
