At the end of an eventful week of signings the Pirates have confirmed that Kiwi-born back-rower Antonio Kiri Kiri, who holds an Italian passport, has signed a two-year contract with the club. He previously played for Yorkshire Carnegie and has played 7's for the All Blacks.

Really good squad is nearer the mark but I reckon Falcons and Trailfinders will still be some distance ahead of the rest with Pirates & Blues leading the others.

Agree with you CC but it could all be in vain if the RFU decide to change their plans at the end of the year and pull the funding for the Championship

The Cornish Pirates are pleased to confirm that former Welsh international tight-head prop Craig Mitchell, aged 33, has signed a two-year contract with the club. He played 15 times for Wales and was recently at Yorkshire Carnegie with Chris Stirling.

When London Welsh went bust, Ealing was able to hoover up a lot of their best players, and this time around it looks like other teams have pulled off the coup. Ealing took a big step forward after that, let's see whether or not Pirates and Knights can do the same.

Umaga was a loan from Wasps and  from the public utterances of the Mayhews I cant see them wanting anything to do with YC . . do you have Elder in twice?

So potentially 18 players still at YC?

Pirates are also signing lots of players on 2 or 3 year deals.  Guess they must have had an injection of money.

It's part of the plan to build a squad capable of pushing for promotion when the new stadium is ready. Unclear when that will be as we are still waiting for promised funding from central government. Last week funding was released to build a new access road which will serve a big new housing development and the stadium - so we hope that's a positive sign.
