Moseley have signed two from London Scottish, Elliott Creed and Luke Hibberd.  Any comments from Scottish supporters on what we might expect?

Two very decent players who, in theory, should stand out in Nat 1. Good luck to them both.

According to the Rugby Paper, Will Maisey ‘is thought’ to have signed for Nottingham. Not sure about the level of truth/accuracy/whether he has or he hasn’t!

It would be nice if he has. Without O'Leary we are a bit short on fly halves. He was good when he played for us before and he has done well for Cov. Odd move though unless Cov have replaced him if true...

Cov released Will during the season, and he moved to Bedford.

Woody- I found this link in answer to your question.

Also excellent news about Josh Poullet.

Thanks Marie23. It was a short term deal with Bedford then. So he could be available...

I think Bedford originally had Will Maisey lined up as Will Hooley’s replacement to compete with Sam Leeming next season. A mutual agreement was made so he could join early due to Hooley’s latest concussion. As we are still not offering contracts to anyone, none of those players will be at Bedford next year!

Thanks Bluesman11. So if Bedford are not offering any contracts are you expecting to be Saints Seconds? Not being unkind. Just interested in the extent of the new partnership. After all we were "Tigers in disguise" for several years...

We’ve got 10 players on 2 year deals. I expect a few more signings once we have some clarity on next season, but if I’m honest for next season I do think unfortunately we’ll be heavily reliant on the Saints players until we can hopefully revert back to a larger core squad the following season. Needs must.

As I’ve mentioned before, still baffled about how any clubs in this division are paying the players they’ve contracted given revenues are effectively 0 for the foreseeable future and there’s still so much uncertainty around when the season will start, rfu payments etc. I would’ve thought the blues approach would be seen elsewhere rather than us being the anomaly. Our latest accounts showed that we turned a small profit for the 3rd year in succession. Whilst the majority of other clubs (or quite possibly all of them) in this division are happy to run at a loss, Bedford are keen to be a sustainable business so we don’t really have any option to offer contracts atm if we want the books to be balanced.

Bluesman I think you will find a number of clubs are offering contracts that only begin paying 2 months before fixtures actually start especially as there is a desire for a full season to be played from whenever the matches begin. Players may not be happy with that but do they have many alternative options? Only the clubs with huge backers are happy to run annually at a loss which is why Nottingham, London Scottish and Coventry, as well as Bedford, have moved away this season from being full time professional rugby clubs. If the RFU take funding away-which they will certainly do within the next 2 years- I suggest Doncaster and Jersey will quickly follow suit.

Bluesman I think you might find there will be very little central funding this year and probably none next year . .  so the Saints deal maybe the only way!
Run with it
