My betting is that the Championship Cup will be discarded (hopefully for good) and, for the 20/21 season, it will start in December 2020 and consist of 22 league matches finishing at end of April 2021. This will then give everyone the opportunity to consider the structure of the 2021/2 season going forward hopefully, as I have just said, without the Championship Cup.

Looks like a pretty wholesale clear out on the island; is this based on early thoughts from Rob Webber, I wonder, or a range of other factors?

No mention of scrum half Luc Jones in either list.

True Ps - Luc's position remains unresolved, but we hope there may be clarity soon...

RW has had an influence apparently - Harvey said as much to local TV - even though he isn't physically here yet.

During the Biljon era (he arrived Jan '14) I'd say the %age of squad leaving each summer has varied between 40 and 60%. This year it's around the higher mark. Same reasons as previous years - some get offers from higher level or better pay in Championship, some give up f/t rugby (eg Aaron Penberthy joining Jsy Police), others head back to their homeland and others depart as a result of the player, or the coaching team, or both, concluding that they don't wish to work together any more...

Harvey estimated '4-5' leavers heading to Prem or Pro14 clubs; only Leeroy Atalifo (Edinburgh) announced thus far... although plenty of 'linked with' speculation, including some players being 'linked with' more than one club, when having more than one employer is not really the done thing even tho' Mr Van Rensburg (and/or his agent) tried it recently...

There was a strongish rumour of Homer coming to Cov, prior to lock-down etc.
Wonder if that's the case, as I see he's listed as a leaver?

The Newcastle Falcons forum reckon he’s signing for them...

Blues were the big recruiters of Jersey alumni in recent seasons but this time around my money is on Donny & Sarries if you can really describe the later as a Championship side.

The Saracens' situation is a mire of uncertainty. On the face of it they remain a part of the not-yet-completed Premiership, as well as Heineken Cup quarter-finalists, but yet they are also confirmed members of the 2020/21 Championship, which it is hoped may start (yes, I realise there are unresolved questions) in the autumn... what a palaver!

Does anyone really think the Championship will start in September? Far fewer full time squads than previously and with much less money from the RFU how will they afford testing of squads on a regular basis in order to train and play? Do not think Saracen's Premiership and Championship fixtures will overlap.

If you mean September 2020 I don't think there is any chance. A January 2021 start with no Championship Cup may be more likely although I'm sure Blues will want a home match against Sarries or Amptill on Boxing Day.

Don't think the dates for Blues v Sarries/Ampthill will matter, should both be 5000 sell outs.

If it is pre-season (and it may well be) how about a match against Cambridge, we have had some good scraps.

Disclaimer - I do not speak for the Committee or the coaching staff  who may have arranged other matches.

Think it might as if you look at other sports the owner of Huddersfield football is talking of planning for no fans in the 20/21 season .

If that doesn't happen using football or Premiership Rugby a discussion is going on that all teams, officials and club support staff must be tested before each game , who pays for that and how much .

With rugby being a major contact support it could include the whole training squad ?
