Half from Nat 1 and half from Nat 2 (ish)

Many Nat 1 clubs not represented at all a reflection of a gruelling season with 30 games knackering many players?

...or a reflection of many ND1 teams having very few players with links to a local English county?

Surely the cross section of representation is also a function of who were released by their clubs to play county rugby.

I note with some dismay for the Cornish that they have no-one yet they have one of the finest tight heads outside the GP in Wayne Reed of Cornish All Blacks, Devon, The Barbarians and a former England Counties player.

I think several Nat 1 clubs were loathe to release players to the County Championship after a long hard season and many needing time to recover from minor knocks and strains.

Didn't the county championships start on the same weekend as the last round of league matches?

Yes and no The Bill Beaumont Trophy and the Shield started on 5th May, The plate (the lowest level) started on 28th April a free Saturday for 3N and 3S except for play offs.

It all gets very confusing.

Lancashire are touring Canada this summer, hence their lack of representation.

I think us Cornish have some real problems to fix at home first, before we start worying about our lack of "on loan" representation in your English Counties squad!!  LOL!
