Scarborough Rugby Club are very pleased to announce that they will be hosting the county championship game between Yorkshire and Lancashire on the 12th May 2012.

Also, following this years highly successful fundraising game (Christchurch and Japan appeals) at the same venue, the club are pleased to announce that as a curtain raiser they will be hosting a Yorkshirerugby.Net XV v Overseas XV - teams made up predominantly of players from Yorkshire 1. This game will have an association with a selected charity.

I have created a 'flyer' page at http://yorkshirerugby.net/index.html and this will be updated as more information becomes available. Please come along and support the event being hosted by arguably the most impressive amateur facility in the country.

From the Yorkshire RFU web-site: -

"COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP 2012 FIXTURES

Yorkshire's 3 pool fixtures in the North and Midlands section of County Championship for 2012 are as follows:-

Saturday May 5th away to Cheshire (Macclesfield)kick-off 3:00pm
Saturday May 12th home to Lancashire at Scarborough RUFC kick-off 3:00pm
Saturday May 19th away to Northumberland (Percy Park)kick-off 3:00pm

The prize for the pool winners is a trip to Twickenham on the weekend of 26th/27th May to play the winners of the South and South West pool for the Bill Beaumont Cup.The county finishing last in the pool groups will be relegated to the County Championship Shield.
Yorkshire have always played in the top tier and will be looking to improve on last season's performances when we won only the final match at home to Warwickshire in what was the deciding game, relegating the midlanders. "

North Mids vs Gloucester is at Stourbridge
NEWT is an acronym, it stands for North East Worcestershire Town. My views, not necessarily my Club's

Is there a website with the fixtures for the County Championship games? I have never been to a game but will start from this season. I live in Staffordshire and near the Leicestershire/Warks borders as well.

I was at the Cumbria v Staffs game. Cumbria just looked strong right from the off, Staffs had a young looking side though I am not sure who was playing for them and in the programme the names were not in their.

Workington's ground is not bad, great pitch nice and wide. Clubhouse is not bad either. They have a big stand at one side but most of it is shutoff due to it being unsafe which is a shame.

Cornwall side to face Gloucestershire available here thanks to ruckinred:

Undoubtedly a stronger side than the one the contested the Tamar Cup, replacing the under performing centres with a couple of regular level 2 performers, a level 6 second row with a level 3 one and a level 4 number 8 with a level 2 one. The selectors must have racked up plenty of miles to have selected players from as far as London and Cambridge, these players must have racked up some miles too to have attended training regularly! Wink

Is Matt Shepherd injured? If not I would have thought that he's exceedingly unlucky not to have got a look in thus far.

Eastern Counties face Warwickshire at a venue TBA on 12th May, and are 'at home' (CRUFC) to Durham on 19th May.  Good luck lads!

Toby Berridge, ex CRUFC, and fruit of my loins, has been made captain of the senior squad.

There is a venue change for the Surrey v Hampshire match this Saturday. It has been moved to Guildford R.F.C. (near Godalming). The main pitch at London Irish Amateur, Sunbury is not playable due to the weather. It remains a 3pm kick-off.
