Arnie, if you don't like that quote from last week's Rugby Paper how about this one.

''It is very much Saracens against Lancashire'' Mark Nelson Head Coach for Fylde and Lancashire.

I can't remember how many Saracen's players Hertfordshire fielded but they would have had to go some to match the 16 Fylde players fielded by Lancashire LOL

Big Eddie, if you don't like the 16 Fylde players how about doing what various posters have repeatedly asked for and naming the changes you would make to strengthen the side?

Nothing against the players. There may not be any better players who could represent Lancashire.

I was just tickled by the juxtaposition of the two separate quotes in The Rugby Paper. One by a Fylde/Lancashire player explaining that 16 representatives from Fylde was on the low side and the other from the Fylde/Lancashire coach complaining that the Hertfordshire team was full of Saracens players.

It may have perhaps been more relevant if I had displayed both quotes in the same post but I was waiting for Arnie to bite before posting the second quote LOL

Not contentious, just interested to see how others see the Herts team.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe,
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion,
I've watched C beams glitter in the darkness near the Tennhauser Gate,

Ratboy, you have misunderstood what I was saying. I have no doubt that Rylo is better than anyone around with his skills and arrows, it is often said that you would have the complete hooker if his and Crofts strengths were merged together. I believe the best move for him was to go to Caldy.
My argument was that certain clubs get overlooked and players from the lower leagues are going unnoticed. Possibly why most of them are making their way to Fylde.
At the time Rylo was asked to play carrying an injury, I have no doubt that he should be in the squad fully fit.
I would be quite interested in knowing the scouting and selection process for Lancs.

According to the Herts RFU website there were as many Hertford players as Saracens involved. So Sarrys v Fylde is somewhat wide of the mark.

Boozersbank,

The Lancashire selection process is quite straightforward. The Fylde coaching and management decide what positions they need to strengthen for their own side and then pick players from outside their club who they think might be a good addition. This season it was noticeable at loose head and scrum half, two positions where they are known to be looking.

From there they then start the wheels in motion to let them know how good it would be for them to move to the Woodlands (which they all do for free even though some of them live nowhere near the West Lancashire coast, must just be down to the standard of coaching).

A couple of the now discredited old guard within the Lancashire committee then make noises about having some representation from other clubs (so they can save face when visiting them on their round of freebies whilst suggesting to those clubs that they should be obliged to support county functions events at their beck and call).

Hence you get the odd selection here and there from Leigh or Vale.

If you don't agree with this then you are called cynical as you are not part of "Team Lancashire" and its stated aim to develop and support the whole of Lancashire club rugby.

It is now 28 May 2012 and the latest news on the RFU's website concerning Lancashire's participation in the County Championship is dated 18 May and under the strap line 'Lancashire v Cheshire at Percy Park loser to be relegated'.

1 week out of date and completley wrong. The RFU really cares about community rugby doesn't it!

agree BE. if you go to rfu.com and click 'news' the most recent item displayed is may 21. there are more recent items on separate threads, ie england and prem/ ch'ship, but you have to hunt for them. and nothing on the county finals more than 3 days after they happened. finally found a shield report here

HM And I always thought you picked the best players available to try & win the cup !

So like I said before who else would you of picked?

We got to the final for the 4th year running & over the last 10 years have been the most successful team by a mile , so it can not be all bad

As for the Quotes BE I think they where very much like your posts "tounge in cheek"

It would make selection easier if the rules stated once you have played for one county you can only play for that county, and not sign for Fylde and then play for lancs.
HE WHO CAN PLAYS HE WHO CANT REFS
