That is difficult to predict. Winning National 2 North is not easy as there are many sides with the infrastructure, desire and ability to play in National 1 and Pen 15 has already predicted that 2019/20 season will be Stourbridge's year.

If Caldy retain the majority of their squad and perhaps unearth another couple of gems they should be in the mix especially as there is a fabulous crop of young players coming through in a very strong 2nd xv. However there are some big beasts waiting to down us in the shape of Fylde/Wharfedale/Stourbridge/Hinckley/Tynedale and Huddersfield without considering the Students and others.

It will be hard going but the planning has already started. Barry and Degsy have formed a very exclusive supporters club which will meet regularly to plan strategy and consider how best to support Caldy in a very partisan and un PC manner.

I am sure there will be flagrant breaches of all forms of etiquette but as membership of this group is by invitation only the Omerta under which we will be expected to operate will keep us out of trouble

I have been given some inkling of the 5 codes I am required to obey. To be honest they seem somewhat benign compared to Mrs Bolognese's house rules

What will happen to those blazers? Surely it’s back in the wardrobe until any N1 return as I very much doubt they are the attire for N2N

One of the fundamental codes of 'the Executive Club's' Omerta is that membership is immediately revoked if any member of the Executive Club wears a stripey blazer in Caldy's club colours.

There is one exception to this fundamental code in respect of any person who has size 16 feet or has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in his or her 70s ...........they can wear whatever they like.

If they have both size 16 feet and have climbed Mount Kilimanjaro after their 70th birthday, in addition to being allowed to wear a Caldy coloured stripey blazer they have life membership of the Executive Club.

That will keep most but not all of the stripey blazer brigade well away from membership of the very exclusive Executive Club.

You must be joking! The lad's wife is from Wigan and he now works full time as a skilled tradesman in the locality for a club sponsor. This isn't any kind of faux job......he is properly employed in his skilled occupation.

As to what Caldy pay him I think your numbers are way way off .......by a very big multiple I expect.

The lad works a proper working week as a carpenter. He came north because his wife wanted to live closer to her parents in Wigan. A club sponsor gave him a proper job to assist. Not as a way to disguise a payment to play but because there was a proper job required to be done.

You sound bitter about something TigerTitan. Caldy has nothing to defend in this regard so I won't explain further.

All the best for next season, Caldy and Big Eddie.

Your posts are almost always entertaining and informative and I hope to see them again about life in League 1 in the 2020/21 season.

I am suppress you are correct, however the big question is

Would that person have provided him with the job if he was going to play for Fylde/Sale FC?

I suspect not.

I actually think he might have.

Over the years I have employed a couple of Caldy players in my businesses. One was a terrifically strong and pacey 13 whose had played another sport  as an international. Unfortunately for Caldy the job took him throughout the UK for the season so I think they only got a couple of games from him. Terrific worker though!

Don't self-employed people need to be given jobs to work on then? I certainly did when I was self-employed.
