Can I just say that without doubt this is a brilliant website. Does the GP have a forum as good as this?
Please let me know. Also I understand the ESPN are taking greater interest in televising rugby next season, does that include the Championship? Finally what an absorbing play off between Chiefs and Bristol. I had hoped Chiefs could do it but didn't think they could. I also felt that Bristol looked definite winners after the first leg, but bloody hell, what a fascinating game. Can Chiefs stay in the GP next season? Also am I ok asking these questions on this forum?

The GP gets enough exposure surely?
You might try The Rugby Forum, which covers GP to some extent, although the coverage of the RFU Championship is poor, especially when compared to constructive and critical content on rolling-maul.com The other plus point for rolling-maul is the RFU actually reads all the discussions; I'm not saying they will do anything about what they read, but we at least know they are reading and are aware of any areas of concern. I think if enough GP Club Supporters were to ask Richard, he'd probably start a section on the Guinness Premiership, why not ask him? Edited by Wireless - 03 Jul 2010 at 02:38 |

This might sound small minded (it possibly even is) but when the GP Clubs begin to show the feintest interests in the game beyond the GP I'll be happy to see them given room here. As it is their self serving approach to maintaining their status and with it an unjustifiable share of the RFU's funding of the game is to the detriment of clubs at everyother level. Let's keep this for clubs that continue to exist as clubs, not depending on a £3m handout from the RFU every year.
You know in writing that posting (rant) the full hypocrisy of the RFU's approach to clubs below level 2 has hit me like a train. They will not fund clubs below the Championship because they don't want them use RFU money to pay their players (heaven forfend they might have ambition) and at the same time pay 3/4 of the wage bill of the GP clubs to help ensure they stay in a position they occupy through accident of history. What an utter disgrace!

How much of Moseley's wage bill comes from RFU funding? and Birmingham's?

I think you'll find the Guinness Premiership no longer exists. The announcement of a new sponsor is imminent.
Which reminds me, where's this supposed new Championship sponsor the RFU have been promising us?

I'd estimate about a 3rd at Moseley but don't know for certain - I can't imagine anyone can put out a competative team on £280k. The point is that Championship clubs recieve 10% of the money Prem clubs get and clubs in Nat 1 about 8% of what Championship clubs get. I'd prefer to see a much more even distribution of the money the RFU has to ALL of it's members. The Prem will attract more in sponsorship and TV money and I don't have a problem with that but the RFU's money should be more evenly distrubuted.

Can anyone confirm what money the Champs get this season - I understand they have more cash plus £££s to pay for their regulation and the ND1 clubs are down to traveling only - approx 5% of what Champs get

Oliver, nice to hear from you and ask any questions (rugby related) you want. Sorry that your post was not more warmly greeted.
Champion, I think it is GBP300k plus a supposed £30k from Sky.
