I saw a weekly documentary about crime in Jersey that disproved this. I can't remember what it was called but I remember that the main protagonist drove a burgundy Triumph Roadster! Wink

Tax wise, income tax is a flat 20% less allowances. There is no CGT or IHT and no corporation tax, except 10% for the finance sector. We do have the equivalent of NI, but as stated GST at 5% rather than VAT at 20% A big negative is a much higher cost of living, but for a single Pro there are attractions.

As for next season, I am certain that Jersey will be a force in the Championship.

It seems to me that Employers NI contributions are 6% up to a limit which is a lot lower than the 12.5% unlimited amount on the mainland.

The tax position for player and club seems massively favourable so it is probably just the murder rate that could put players off.

Jerseyboy
Great news for Jersey. Many congratulations.
I remember watching you play down at Winchester just a few years back.

Your say
'As for next season, I am certain that Jersey will be a force in the Championship'

Confidence is good, and fully respect that your club has a very sound base for development and improvement, but there are a lot of seasoned and determined clubs in the championship and the step up from National 1 can be considerable. Shame there is no national cup any more, as you most likely would have had an opportunity to rate yourselves against the higher ranked opposition to get a feel for it. Beware, that you will not get away with any concentration lapses or generosity in defence in the championship.

I very much hope that you do succeed, but I would warn against overconfidence at this stage.

No  that's King Crimson - In the court of the Crimson King.

Blodwyn Pig are currently on hiatus due to Mick's heart attack and subsequent onset of Meniere's.

PS.
Some further reflections on the wonders of Jersey rugby.
Last time I went to play rugby in Jersey I sat next to the Captain on the flight from Hern airport.
We go there for lunch and had a £5 whip. 13 pints later we had to put another fiver in....
Those were the days....

BTW - I noticed Rugby are only charging £80 for a season ticket.
Mind you they got over 800 o their last home game.

If you get it before the end of June it's only £50.
In the following order, Rugby Lions, Northampton Saints, and whoever happens to be playing Leicester Tigers...
