I think the reason the Helu incident annoys Bristol supporters is that we've had guys yellow carded for exactly the same offence.  In fact the one that springs quickest to mind is when our guy, at full pelt realised he wouldn't get to the ball in time, didn't challenge and tried as hard as possible to get out of the way.  The oppo landed on our players back and then went to ground.  I don't think that was even a penalty, certainly not yellow.  Thats how the ref seems to have seen it on Monday, but where is the consistency?

The scrum decision was ludicrously wrong, as was the bouncing pass as being forward.  However the Pirates drive at the end totally smashed the Bristol pack.  Not lost because of the ref, but the margin probably was influenced.  And the pass to Tovey?  Couldn't see from my angle, but the crowd over that side didn't call it and most crowds will cry "forward" at the slightest opportunity in my experience.

The Pirates v Bristol game was super to watch as a neutral, what an advert for the Championship, surely a sponsor can't be far away now. The injuries hit Bristol, and with the short turn round will probably mean key men are out of the second game. That said Pirates team spirit and flair won it.

The first try scored in either game on Sunday will have a huge bearing on the outcome, good luck to all.

I can't see a sponsor wanting to get involved with a league where no-one knows how to win the prize of promotion, and most of the contestants admit they can't.

However good the Pirates win was we had the rub of the green in several ways and cannot expect the same on Sunday.

The team that gets go forward ball with a Premiership ref will win

we still had two on the bench at the end, so could have replaced a scrum half & a prop.
but yeah, have been impressed with the attitude of the players & staff since the game
this is why events unnerve me

Elegia, Matty James & Mark Lilley came on very late in the game.

Lilley was in the dying moments, and James probably 10 mins before the end.

Still left Channon & Slater(?) on the bench though.
