Hopefully the quality of the beer will be affected.

Their pubs have quite reasonably priced food though.

I don't go to pubs for food, so couldn't possibly comment.

The poor quality Greene King IPA sold at a rip off price at Twickenham would not be missed.

I always manage to get down a Trailfinders Lager on matchday out of loyalty, but I wish that it was like buying Tyrell's crisps where the Rugby sponsorship is a nice plus to something I'd probably buy anyway.

Asahi Super Dry is great lager ! A welcome addition to the offering I'm sure, don't drink too much lager myself but this is defiantly one I do every now and then.

Greene King will go from strength to strength from this.

No, it's definitely a clementine batch. And I'm informed it delicious by those who partake.
Impressed that you know the correct term for a bread roll though.

I think you’ll be disappointed. Asahi acquired Fullers a few months ago. They’re a different company to GK’s proposed new owners.

I was about to say CKA are a Hong Kong property company, Asahi are Japanese food and beverage company!

Last time I was in HK. San Miguel was 'their' beer. They didn't believe it was Spanish.

That's because its from the Phillipines: San Miguel Beer was first produced by La Fabrica de Cerveza de San Miguel, a brewery in Manila that began operations in 1890

I imbibed Greene King IPA (32p) as an adult, Double Diamond as a student (2s 6d [12.5p]) and Charles Wells Mild (1s 10d [9p]) as a teenager. All served their purpose. Always kept clear of GK Abbott or Abbot and St Edmund (strong bottled beer) aka Brain Damage.

Time was when you could go out on £1 including 6 pints, fish & chip supper and a night bus home. Now my sons go out with £100 and come back with no change (or a shag [tests fruit filter]).

CW and GK beers were brewed from the local river ......... Dead

My mistake, I read the article completely wrong, it said :

It also marks the second time this year that a time-honoured British brewer has been snapped up by an Asian buyer, after Fuller’s was sold to Japanese drinks giant Asahi for £250m.
