A big game this Saturday as 1st vs 2nd in the NPL.
Some interesting noises coming out of both camps if you look at their respective websites/social media.

Firstly from Hull it was "“The good thing is as we near the half-way mark, out of the two losses and a draw all three were easily winnable games which shows that we have no excuses now not to go the rest of the season unbeaten. This will really keep the pressure on the top spot as we don’t want a play-off we want to be the winners, be the dominant team in that league and take the league title".

Seems that it didn't go unnoticed by the PGH DOR judging by this bit on the Hops website

Been noticeable how Hull have been putting out a lot of comment all season. Got to say as a fan I prefer a club to be making noise rather than doing/saying nothing as seems the case with quite a lot of clubs in this division. Mind you I wonder how pleased Mr. Pearce is or whether he has a say on what is put out there at times!

It was a physical encounter. Hoppers dominated the opening quarter before Hull came back into it. Hoppers then dominated for around 25 minutes at the start of the second half and looked home and hosed at 24-13 with less than 10 to play but Hull wouldn't go away and scored a late try to make things nervous. A late attack made for a heart stopping moment for the home side but overall Hoppers deserved the win.

They really should have put the game to bed when camped on the Hull line for periods in the third quarter.

Still, its 5 points for Hoppers to extend their lead over Hull to 16 (or 11 if Hull win their game in hand with a bonus point) and 13 in front of Lymm who face Hull in a fortnight.

Be interesting to see how Hull go this week against Harrogate. I don't think the Gate pack will be able to handle the Hull forwards. Lymm go to Wirral who've only lost once at home. A pivotal weekend before a pivotal weekend?!

Had three lads playing who can't recall playing at their place earlier in the year.

Lineout and scrum still creaked for them but they were powerful with ball in hand.

Only one newcomer in the Hull pack this season, back row player who came from Ionians.one other returned from injury earlier in the season , the rest all regulars , but still missing 3 in the pack due to long term injuries

I don't think Kay or Poole played against us earlier in the season? And one of the rows I think might have been different too.

Not saying they were new lads, just changes from when we met at Hull.

Poole is on loan from Hull Ionians. He could be called back at any time.
Kay played for Hull Ionians prior to attending Bishop Burton College, hence his now playing for Hull.

Rupert Kay is one of the players who was injured at the start of the season and Zac Poole joined the club from Ionians. The 2 nd row who played in the first game against you is one of the long term injuries, the one who replaced him Liam Regardsoe has been at the club for a couple of seasons now

Puli.
Rupert Kay has played in all of Hull's games this season.  It was Cameron Curry who has the long-term
injury.  Zac Poole signed for Hull on November 4th 2017 and has played in the last six games.

Hopping Mad,

Prop Ben Boothman played v Hoppers at Hull as did No7 Cameron Curry.
Boothman has a short term injury and Curry has a long term injury.
Hull named 4 provisional subs v Hoppers last Saturday 2 of which were back-rowers
Ollie Dynan and Liam Fitts. One of them will have played which means you are correct
when you mentioned 3 whom you did not recognise. The prop who took Boothman's place
was on the bench at Hull and is Dominic Hardman.

Correct Yogi, except you forgot to say that Poole signed on loan.

Hopping Mad,
I was on holiday and not at the game.
As for the run-in I think I had better wait until after the next two weeks
as we play Harrogate at home this week and Lymm away the week after.
If we get a decent return from those matches we could be in with a play-off chance.
If not, who knows?  I think Hoppers are very strong favourites for the top spot though.

Unless something very strange happens Hoppers will be returned to level 4 at the first attempt. Having seen all sides in Premier North (except Birkenhead Park - holiday) I have Hull as runners-up. Anyone disagree?

As I understand it, nobody likes a show-off ...;-)

Still just under half a season to play for most teams. There is a lot of rugby still to be played.

Some very tough games ahead and who knows what can happen. Injuries might become an issue for sides especially if key players are the ones who are missing.

Hopefully the boys can keep on churning out the results but I am sure plenty of our rivals (particularly our locals ones such as Kendal, KL and Rossendale) will be motivated to knock Hoppers off their perch.
