Usually journalists are desperate for good copy - on the other hand, they are lazy.
If they need to edit or rewrite, they are unlikely to do so.

Talk to them, ask them why they have not run your earlier reports.
Listen and give them what they need.

Make sure you know when they need the report by and get it in on time.

Make sure it is ready to print  -so run a spell check and ideally get someone else to proof it.
Check how many words they want and ensure you hit the length.
If it is too long it will not go in.
And make sure it is submitted in the format they want - if they ask for plain text, then send them that, not a word file or pdf.

Ask whether they want photos - if so what format and what size.

And do it every week of the season, or at the very least every home game.

If they still do not print it, then go back and  speak to them again.
Keep pressing them until they start printing your reports.

More rumours of discontent at Maidstone?

Lost two to T Wells, one to Sevenoaks and from what I hear their very good kiwi number 8 has gone home early?

Final nails in the coffin?

On the subject of Lon 1 South, from what I have seen Medway are well ahead of CS in terms of quality and have the squad depth to make a go of it if they went up. CS have scratched their recent 2s Zoo League matches and haven't fielded a 2s in a league fixture since November. They would have to invest heavily if they did go up as there is no playing infrastructure to sustain a challenge.

Tbh  i was not overly impressed by Medway, perhaps that was the playing conditions rather than anything else. Good Solid team but no more than that. It hurts to say it but Havant are the best team i have seen this season ( apart from London Cornish Tongue ) .Not seen CS yet but will do on the 17th.

Dickon it may be mute point as CS may well have to win a play off match to get promoted.

Gotta agree that Medway are deserved numero uno, and I do agree Gareth that Havant looked better than CS. Been amazed how poor Maidstone and Gravesend look this season, it’s amazing how their luck has changed over the seasons.

Funny how depending on the weekend, people's views on teams varies.

I think CS have been the best team I've seen bar Medway. Havant flattered to deceive both times I have seen them.

Gravesend had a very good, stable squad for years but as they retired/moved on/family lives getting in the way they have struggled more and more.
Maidstone on the other hand were on an upward trajectory but then for some reason, have come off the rails. A change internally maybe, who knows.

Going down to London 2 isn't easy either. Have to be so careful to not fall again.

Good advice. In our local Papers (Cheshire/Staffordshire) photos are the key to coverage. Talk to the reporters/editors, understand their requirements and pressures.

Interesting last 7 games in L1N, top 2 are clear I think but both Brentwood & Chingford have tough games coming up.

Don't want the uncertainty of a playoff so have to go for it until the end of the season.

And Chingford certainly know that pain of falling at the last possible hurdle.

Brentwood are a quality side. We played them with basically a full 1st XV so can't really make any excuses and their game management was excellent. They don't leak points. We scored an excellent try against them but then that was it , they shut us out at home. Played the surface, played the team, big forwards and solid backs. Very well drilled. Think Chingford v CS is the play off with Chingford coming out on top.

Hi Pistacio, are you Old Ps? Yeah we played well that game, you've got some good players there, we just played the conditions well I think with a better kicking game

Hopefully we can carry it into the last set of games, don't fancy a playoff.

Ha! Was actually more interested to know what inspired Canons prediction that we would win at Brighton!?! Think Chi and Medway will win (as long as Medway have locks to replace their injured ones), but reckon Maidstone could turn Thurrock over as the latter dont travel well, much as I like the people there. Think the CS pack will be too strong for Totts, and would expect OC's to beat Gravesend. Sevenoaks v Cobham and Brighton v Cornish will also be very close matches I suspect!

They never looked dangerous against us (I know that sounds stupid as losers) and we dominated the scrums with our 2nd/3rd team front row. Our discipline lost us the game.

Brighton - London Cornish - Cornish stuggling in past few weeks. Brighton on the up. Will be tight but going for a home win.

Chichester - Chobham - Chi too strong for Chob as they try and stay in the hunt.

Havant - Medway - Game of the week. Going to be very close, but I'm going with home advantage.

Maidstone - Thurrock - Battle of the basement. Thurrock needing a win to stay above the drop. Maidstone probably have too much ground to make up. Bit of a player crisis at the Kent club also.

Old Colfeians - Gravesend - Colfes to win this with ease utlising their massive pack. Need a win to keep pressure on Thurrock.

Sevenoaks - Cobham - Two sides who like to play a bit. Cobham probably will just edge it. But Oaks would like probably 2 more wins to feel totally safe.

Tottonians - CS Rugby 1863 - Totts aren't the team from previous years. CS on a roll and targeting a slip up from Medway.

5 out of 7  not bad...
Hav beating Medway  startsto make it interesting !.

Totts did OK poor 10 mins again start of the second Half meant we were chasing the game with no chance of winning.  Packs were pretty even, CS backs were the difference ! Good team  will look at the Video to see if they are the best we have played.

Well I was dismal in my predictions. . . . time to reassess my psychic forecasting!!

Havant have really thrown the cat among the pigeons, have CS got the stamina? CS have Havant on the 3rd March and Medway the week after, I suspect after that the top 3 will be decided - but then again you know how good my L1S knowledge is!!! LOL

We self capitulated as is typical Chobham at the mo, to give 4 penalties away in the first half when you’re in possession of the ball is unforgivable! Chichester scores 17 points during our yellow card (which we didn’t need to give away) which was the difference. The hosts deserved to win, but the margin flattered them.

And I will say in all my years at Chichester, it was for once a very partisan welcoming crowd - a pleasure.
