Prediction league looks a rollicking good laugh.  Let's have a punt:

Chichester vs Dartfordians - surely too much for Darts, though Chichester have only beaten Havant so far, which shows nothing other than they aren't quite as bad as them.
Chobham vs Medway - not impressed by Chobham at all.  Medway to romp it.
Cobham vs Westcombe Park - carbon copy of the above.
Hove vs Tottonians - Hove standing on the precipice
London Cornish vs Camberley - would suggest an absolute tanking in store for Cornish here.
Sevenoaks vs Brighton - sadly, looks another easy away win.
Thurrock vs Havant - Thurrock bang average, but Havant bang awful.

Finally dried off and defrosted after a thoroughly wet afternoon at Fowler’s Wells.

Quite the game despite the conditions which, as always, were something of a leveller. Medway quality shone through in the end however, thanks predominantly to another hugely dominant performance in the tight. A torrid afternoon for Chobham’s front row.

Some cracking scores elsewhere - certainly didn’t see Brighton losing, nor Cornish getting so close to Camberley. Presumably a raft of players back available?

“Despite being decimated by injury, London Cornish performed miracles to keep ambitious Camberley at bay in pouring rain until a controversial 78th minute try saw the visitors take the lead for the first time, the Surrey side running out 9-12 winners in London 1 South.”

I can only assume this was for our amusement. Otherwise I feel for those boys starting for Cornish today.

Regardless of whether it’s first choice or “rejects”, great effort to hold Camberley.

I hear Brighton self distructed against Sevenoaks. Red card after a few minutes and several pens for back chat. Hard to believe the result. Anyone see the game?

It was a great game at Fowlers Wells yesterday, the better team won. But it does show what a close League it is, the two late penalties making it more of a flattering score.

It was a game of two halves and interestingly the more dominant side lost the relevant half!!

I don’t think I’ve known a season with so many clubs with so many injuries, everybody sounds to have a whole team on the physio bench!

Note that Vale of Lune lost again in re-arranged game leaving last year's promoted sides propping up the table.

Is the difference in quality that great or is there a reason that sides aren't competitive in the league above? In other words DO YOU HAVE TO PAY PLAYERS?

I think the key for Cornish yesterday was that all of our players were playing in their natural positions, rather than having to fill in as has been the case at times in recent weeks. That, a well executed wet weather gameplan and a little bit of luck until the late drama saw us run Cam v close.

Cannon - I think thats true, and there is good reason too - am penning an article to discuss exactly that, which will go to a few publications in the next week or so.

Great to hear Dickon. It can’t be easy with players out of position. Would love to hear how you contained the powerful Camberley side.

Combe seem to be getting stronger each week. A bonus point away win in yesterday’s conditions is a very good effort. That highly paid front row must have come to the party! 😜

I look forward to seeing it, I have some thoughts from the boonies in Surrey on it....

Just discovered this forum and was quite amazed to read an anti Havant "rant" by someone pretending to be a pond bird!!
So I thought I'd chip in and nail my colours firmly to the mast by not hiding behind a daft pseudonym...
Yes, we are going through the mill At the moment, what with the frustrating inability to field a side anything like that of the last two years and couple that with the fact of having to play our first 9 games on the road is very painful, but we are Rhubarbing on without crying about it and you'll ALWAYS find us in any club bar after the game no matter what the result. We are a Hardy bunch down here with "plenty of pairs of trousers" to go with our mouths!!!
I do hope you can make the "flight" to Hooks lane this season, we are the team that play in very ordinary blue and white hoops "very snazzy" as you put it??? You never know duck and chips may be on the pre match meal menu😂
We'll bounce back and you know it

Havant Tony, loving your first post. Don't pull any punches, just like your team. Havant have always been free with their fists. Well fists, forearms, elbows......whatever takes their fancy. Always a bruising encounter. I suspect a few teams will feel the force of the massive Havant pack this season. Can't be easy having 9 away on the bounce but don't worry, you have Hove soon!

I’m sure you’ll bounce Tony. Hardly any teams go down with no wins at all.

Just to Quote one of them " All Bag & No balls"Big smile

So are you saying playing all these away games is the problem or the Injuries /Retirements you have had.?

If it's the away games why was the pitch not ready in time for the new season.?

Hi westcombe ranger...No the away games is not the root of our problem but as you know home advantage in this great game of ours is a real factor but our problem this year is simply the lack of players available from last year..weve had three leave to higher leagues also we have a few away with the navy for months and also injuries to key player's....we knew the AGP was coming and we were prepared to play a few games away at the start but the legal details with havant council and the RFU took ages and work couldn't start until this was all sorted which has put us in the predicament of 9 games away on the trot and the pitch has to be tested by the RFU for a week as well before they'll pass it off!!!
