Long time reader but first post.  This forum has provided plenty of entertainment, particularly over the past two weeks!  Loving the work.

Cards on the table - I am one of the coaches at Sevenoaks RFC.  Clearly been a very good start to our season which we are pleased with but big test for the boys this week against Chichester.  We also have some big away fixtures after Christmas.  We operate a 'one squad' mentality and have done for the past two and a half years.  It's taken time but we have tried to create a culture whereby every player believes they have a shot at playing the highest level of rugby possible at the Club.  The most pleasing aspect for us is our 2s, 3s and 4s are competing well in their leagues. I have seen Clubs at this level and above not being able to field 2nd and 3rd teams because of the sole focus on the 1s....all fur coat and no knickers as my Dad would say and just not sustainable.

For my money, its the most competitive London 1 South league we have been involved in since we achieved promotion two years ago.  You can't just pick a big, physical team and bully sides which you might have got away with 2 seasons ago.  The sides that will be up there at the end of the season will have the most strings to their bow and for me that is Brighton at the moment.

I don't see Havant going down - they are a strong team and have a spine of good players, particularly the 10 Knight who I don't think has missed a kick against us for three years!!  I think they will have a say on promotion as well as there will be sides that go down there and trip up.

Cheers

Brighton vs Chobham : Chobham as I’m loyal!
Camberley vs Medway: in the game of the weekend I see a Surrey win
Chichester vs Sevenoaks : Sevenoaks will be too strong for the Chichester revival
Dartfordians vs Westcombe Park : An away win in a very tight match
Havant vs Tottonians : Totts to continue Havant woes
London Cornish vs Hove: A comfortable Cornish win.
Thurrock vs Cobham: Home win for the northerners
Rucks and mauls may bust my balls, but whips and chains excite me!!

Brighton vs Chobham : 50 points at least
Camberley vs Medway: Not seen Medway. If Cam get 50% of the ball they will win
Chichester vs Sevenoaks : Close but Sevenoaks winning when not playing at their best.
Dartfordians vs Westcombe Park  At the start of the season it would have been a certain away win.
Havant vs Tottonians : Totts  it will not  be as one sided as the Cup match. Totts to do a Sevenoaks on Havant.  Hav Missing Knight & Trail however always look forward to going there as does No1 son.
London Cornish vs Hove:
Thurrock vs Cobham:

Brighton v Chobham, after training this week, It’s going to be a cricket score and Chobham won’t get on the score sheet.
Camberley v Medway, I’m hoping for a Medway win but I think Camberley will just be a bit to strong. But then again a Medway loss will see them out of the running so they should be gunning for the W.
Chichester v Sevenoaks, heard Chichester have players back and this is the game to watch. I’m going a home win just.
Dartfordians v park, has to be a home win park have falllen of the mark.
Cornish v Hove, a home win and Hove will get pumped (just like next week)
Havant v totts, sorry Gareth but I’m going with a home win just.
Thurrock v cobham, I’m going with the away win by 15

Sounds like a close run thing at Brighton, certainly closer than anticipated. Chobham really turn up or Brighton complacent?

I did manage to get along to see most of the Medway Camberley game - Cambs large and dangerous backs let down by their pack who were put through the mincer by Medway.

Cambs big islanders very dangerous going forwards, but bordering on a liability in defence - left grasping at thin air by the two pacy Medway wingers on a number of occasions.

Chobham really did turn up (should be in bottom two). A lot of changes to the Brighton side that started last week v Medway which was good to see if we really have what it’s takes as a club and we do...!!

First time poster, but have been reading the posts on this forum with great interest. I thought I would register to give Dartfordians some well deserved representation in the forum. Today was another great victory for a young side, who week in week out play against bigger, more experienced teams. Some teams paid, some not (apparently). We completely outplayed Park today, and the victory was well deserved. This is our first season at this level for a very long time, and our results thus far are testament to the hard work of the players, coaches and committee over the last 15+ years. We seem to be underestimated most weeks and I hope that continues. However I suspect teams will be a lot better prepared for us in 2019. The lads should be proud of their performances so far, but still a long way to go.

Chobham (some big lads & the 4th team Prop did a good job) played very well for 50 mins, had the wind and rain with them 1st half 0 vs 14 H/T, both sides had yellows that didn't help. No complacency from Brighton, Chobham the better team for 50 mins.
Ref had both sets of players & supporters scratching their heads at times but had a decent afternoon. Good to see two young lads on the referee program running touch.
Had a good chat with some of the Chobham supporters after the game, fingers crossed they get the injured players back and have a better 2nd half of the season, hope they stay up.

Well Totts are now   in the down & dirty end of the table.

Great second half by Havant yesterday as usual. Never really gave totts the ball & when they did get it they looked good but kept spilling it.

Not looking good at the moment as i can only see them getting another 20 points and it may not be enough.

Hi, I was there watching. It was played in horrible conditions which played into Dartfordians pack’s hands. Our pack, albeit smaller, were far more effective around the park. Looked like Park may have been missing a few of their highly paid front row, as one of their front row had seen better days. I certainly wouldn’t be paying him to walk around the pitch. I imagine he was a lot better in his younger days. Lots of handling errors in the backs, but Dartfordians outplayed Park in most aspects of the game. Tackled better, kicked better, kept possession better. Park had a few chances to score, but expected to just be able to batter themselves over the try line. But Darts defence was too good. Well deserved win.

Well done to Darts.  After playing them last week, our boys said there weren’t surprised by the result.  Camberley v. Medway seemed to live up to expectations – very strong result for Medway.

A good win for us at Chichester and was one way traffic for most of the first half (in favour of Chi).  Going in 7-3 up at half time after going into a strong wind gave us a lot of confidence and the second half saw our pack get on top as the weather set in.

Nice to meet you Vuarnet – nice set-up at Chi and thought your squad were a credit to the Club, particularly your 10 who is not only a very good player but nice bloke.

Looking forward to welcoming London Cornish at the weekend to the Paddock – we have our carols after so hope you can stay around for a pint or two Dickon.

Cheers

Halfway point in the season, now with a better knowledge of the teams in the table who are your top two and who are your bottom three?
Top two: Brighton, Sevenoaks
Bottom three: Hove, Chobham and Cobham
