Congratulations to both Students and Albion for the performance they produced in atrocious conditions today at Loughborough University.

Yes for sure there were handling errors galore but with the half-time score of 3 - 7 to Albion, you might have expected the score to remain close after 80 minutes.

However Albion totally thrashed Students running in 4 tries and totally deserved their victory, running out worthy 34 - 6 winners.

The Albion performance was professional with a capital “P”. Based on today’s performance they are a much better team than their league position suggests and I am sure will finished in the upper reaches. If only Students had a few of Albion’s seasoned players to bolster their young side and help their development, the league might look very different.

Give Students their due, they never threw the towel in but they didn’t make life easy with losing so many line-outs on their own throw. Simply not good enough at this level.

Although Students remain rooted to the bottom of the table, this league is the closest for a long time.

I remain upbeat about survival for Students in NL1 and am sure we will upset a few fancied teams. Time will tell!

PurpleHaze, a gracious post. We've gone through a very difficult period recently and the bonus point win was fantastic to ease our worries. The Students play a great brand of rugby and not many teams stop them from scoring tries. We look forward to the return fixture on our muddy-free pitch. Cheers!WinkWink
