Morning all - looking forward to the upcoming season. I think it will be even tighter than last season with not much to pick from the top 3. Any intel on the promoted teams? @Carlos interesting to see that you think Shelford will be top 2, do you know much about their new signings as last season they were very much a mid table side imo.

Top 3

Wimbledon - Despite seemingly losing a couple of players it sounded like they had begun to really find their feet in Nat 2 by the end of the year. I think they will be looking for a big push to spring back up there.
RTW- with an impressive debut season under their belts and I imagine some more player recruitment I think they will be right up there come the end of the season
Hertford - Always going to be there or there abouts - solid club.

Bottom 3

Bedford - Tough season, although I think they will put up more of a fight than poor old Towcester last year
Chingford - No idea at all, just have a gut feel that one of the promoted teams doesn't survive this year
Guildford - Were in free fall at the backend of last season

Its good to be back.

DD: I based my guess on:
1) The new plastic pitch will give them a huge advantage in home games.
2) I seem to remember new management/ownership going in last season and that = more cash to splash usually.
3) Historically I felt last year was unusually bad for them compared to their usual level. So I expect them to bounce back a bit.

Could be wrong on all 3 but that's what makes the guessing such fun.

I think Hertford may struggle, we have lost two of our county players to Bishops Stortford and our star full back to Hong Kong, plus a few other leavers, not sure how the replacements will fare.

Last night Bracknell (SW Prem) played their final PSF against CS Stags (Lon Prem) for whom it was their first. The usual format was that of 4 periods, with CS settling quickly and scoring two converted tries in the first 10 mins. The final result was Bracknell 14 CS Stags 33 (2 converted tries to 5 of which 4 were converted). Both teams were no doubt satisfied that objectives had been met. Season start not far away now.

Was at the game yesterday as both my local sides. Was an entertaining game with still that little edge of a local derby. I wouldn't say Wells were pumped though. If my memory serves me correctly, the final score would have been 40 something to 18sh, which does suggest it was one sided but I don't think it reflects the game (normally pre-season games don't in my experience!). Don't get me wrong though, TJs were well worth the W (if that matters).

TJ's looks well drilled and got into their rhythm quickly. From what I can see, a few new handy additions so I expect them to have another good season. Their backline looked dangerous pretty much every time they had the ball. On the other hand, wasn't overly impressed with their pack. They struggled at scrum time in the first half when the T Wells pack were getting a nudge on. Although, second half with a couple of personnel changes from both teams evened them up a bit. They rocked up with a good 25+ players by my count so were able to give a good run out to a lot of players.

Wells from what I was told (and could see) were missing several key players due to holidays and work. A couple from the back row and pretty much an entire back line. The 9 isn't a 9 and the 10 was a young lad back from Uni. That being said, they looked like they had a couple of handy new additions as well. The 15 in particular looked a threat in open space. I am sure they were happy with the way some of their young lads stepped up and it was clear they want to play with a some pace and tempo. I think they'll have another strong season.

I was there too. TJs scored 8 tries to 2 final score 54-12. Wells last score an intercept. I witnessed the Nat 2 team mauling very well making big yards. The scrum was even early on but after changes were made, TJs won multiple scrum penalties. It was a good hit out for both teams and I am sure both teams were missing players due to holidays. I wish both teams well for the season. I was impressed with the Wells 15

As we came second to BSE on Saturday, that report gives a worried Hertford man some comfort.

Tring may struggle to be top 3 as I hear Tom Newton is injured, possibly for the season. Second hand information so may or may not be true. He really is a big influence on the Tring team and any game he plays in. Top bloke.
Hertford have lost a few excellent players, the replacements are unknown as yet, but training has been positive and the line out seems to be working better, so we will see if top three, middle, or bottom three is the result for the season.

Likely to be top 3, bottom 3 or in the middle - you've got all the bases covered there

Lot of people writing off Guildford. Be a different team with Peter Hodgkinson playing for them.
