Going to be tough for and good luck to all.

Totally respect all the clubs that stay amateur just like us and appreciate how hard it is to retain players, but even as an amateur club I find it hard to believe at your level your management and coaches are not actively recruiting players.

For the record, if a club chooses to pay or renumerate players I don’t have an issue - as long as they are HONEST about it!

Bloody hell , nothing gets the endorphins rushing quite like the return of club rugby. Was an avid follower of this feed last year and thought id take the plunge ( but in the right way .. eh westcombe Wink )

Look forward to evaluating this season with you all and maybe even the occasional joust as there seem to be some strong characters within this group.

Top - Inclined to agree with Carlos but in a different order

To be top 3 you need player talent or understanding/cohesiveness and preferably both. So unless there has been some big recruitment the player talent means you must look at the top 6 from last season. Hertford have a great organisation and understanding of a plan but it sounds like they’ve lost some players. Tring have a simple plan but no obvious talent. Toughness certainly helps though. TWs have the money so has their talent improved yet further? Westcliff possibly overachieved last couple of years given these criteria. Wimbledon and TWs for me but will there be a surprise leap from one team?

Having followed this thread and the predictions over the last couple of weeks I’m surprised that people are underestimating Brentwood, I don’t know what changes they have to their squad this year but they developed from a very forward dominated style of play a couple of years ago and last year they were a excellent all round team, with pace to burn in their backs, I expect them to go well this year, particularly against teams who aren’t used to playing with their sloped pitch.

It’s no surprise to me that they beat Chingford twice last year and I reckon they will do the same this weekend.

Think it's based on experience....many teams have come up having breezed through level 6 and gone straight back down as the extra physicality (and travelling) takes its toll.

Very similar to going up to level 4.

Yeah sure I get that, if you look at most teams that get from level 7 on wards they generally struggle to settle at higher level, but L1N is a tough league and teams such as Tring have gone on to do well

LSE Prem is a great league and the vast majority of games will be close. I only see Wimbledon putting cricket scores on some. Most do not pay their players and those that do will crash and burn, ruin their club unless they have deep pockets.

I see that you have joined 23 hours ago. That must be the sum total of your rugby experience to make such a statement and many clubs have been paying their players for years without "crashing & burning" and without deep pockets, just hard working, mostly volunteer individuals, sharing a common goal.

There have been lots of Clubs that have crashed and burned, but in this particular league sides like Westcliff, Dorking, Sidcup and Guildford do not pay their squads. If you want to go further up the leagues then you will need deep pockets, but money in my opinion at this level and in lower leagues just loses the identity of the club and the whole ethos of playing for the badge.

There must have been a way of making your point without resorting to petty insults. This is a great forum, let's not ruin it. These are opinions made by people who support their rugby club, sometimes we don't agree with them.

Sorry Rugby70 but of the two Surrey clubs, Guildford are currently paying players and Dorking have historically always paid players - but I don’t believe they are currently.
