Sorry to everyone for the intolerable delay in providing the final 2 weeks results.

Week 25

Lichfield 25-49 Syston

Luctonians 64-12 Doncaster

Newport 54-17 Derby

Nuneaton 17-54 Burton

Sandbach 29-34 Broadstreet

SKiwifruithorpe 45-12 Bridgnorth

Sheffield 17-16 Bournville

Week 25 saw the final relegation places confirmed. Despite Syston’s comprehensive win over fellow relegation side, Lichfield, Bournville’s losing bonus point at Sheffield saw them preserve an insurmountable points gap.  Luctonians’ win over the now safe Doncaster secures them second place at least but will hope that Scunny slip up next week as they were comfortable winners over Bridgnorth. ‘bach and ‘street threw up an entertaining affair in a close game tthat saw the visitors take the spoils

Congratulations to Stinger and Welshwonder for their max pointers, which sees them both climb the table slightly. At the business end, I continue to stretch out the lead over second place Friendly Prop and One for the Ditch narrows the gap on FP to a solitary point.

Week 26

Bournville 36-22 Syston

Bridgnorth 42-8 Sheffield

Broadstreet 16-17 SKiwifruithorpe

Burton 25-21 Sandbach

Derby 43-26 Nuneaton

Doncaster 17-47 Newport

Lichfield 19-80 Luctonians

And so it is all over. Syston’s run of good form was too little too late and the tank was empty at Bournville. Bridgnorth ended their season on a high with a comprehensive demolition of Sheffield. A tight affair at Ivor Preece Fields saw Scunny control the game in the final third to secure the 4 points needed for the title. Good luck next season. Burton and Sandbach played out an entertaining game with the host coming out on top. Derby ended their disappointing season with a commanding performance over Nuns, this season’s Jeckyll and Hyde team. Newport over ran a Donny side who must have been very relieved to have avoided the drop after their 10 point deduction. Finally Lucs consolidated their playoff place with a huge win over what must have been a despondent Lichfield team. Good luck to them in their playoff with Blaydon. Thank god it’s at home.

For some reason I was under the impression that the remaining game was next weekend. Sandbach finished the season off with a bang and, taking the original predictions from week 22, only Welshwonder and Rdh160 called the result and so their scores have been adjusted.

And so onto this year’s Prediction League placings

In joint 2nd place, very well done to One for the Ditch, in his maiden predicting season, and Friendly Prop.

The top spot falls to me, retaining the title.

Well done and thanks for organising Stallion, good effort but can you not take part next year to give us a chance!
After leading at half way stage I managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory! Some teams have got a lot to answer for!

Thank you Stallion for your good works, despite your interest in another league. Thank you also for your kind words around my maiden season success.

Have fun FB in N2....we will miss you, as will the bar at N(S)RUFC

See you all next season.......I will have acquired some divining sticks by then!

Please could I add my thanks to Stallion for running the show again and who has "galloped" home to repeat his success of last season despite forgetting to post on one of the weeks!
As a miserable "Also-ran" could I put forward a tentative suggestion for a different method of scoring for 2019/20?
Could we possibly do a 5-1, 0-4, 2-2 etc whereby 1 point is scored for correct result and a bonus point or two for getting the correct match points as predicted above - usual extras for Full House etc could still apply?
I appreciate this would take a bit more time up for the Scorer so largely dependant on Stallion being ready and willing?
At present it just seems that a lot of Predictors drop out when they fall out of the running early doors and obviously don't see any way back into the competition
Not sour grapes - honest!! 😂😂😂
