Derby 19 Lucs 70

10 converted tries for Lucs and comfortably the best team I have seen this season. Derby have put in some lame performances in recent weeks but, apart from a couple of missed tackles and basic handling errors, played pretty well today and scored some nice tries but were second best by some distance.

Could be 2 wins for the Midlands team on the trot in the play-offs!

Bournville 17-24 Scun-thorpe

Bridgnorth 15-21 Sandbach

Burton 29-26 Newport

Derby 19-70 Luctonians

Doncaster 66-35 Lichfield

Nuneaton 20-15 Broadstreet

Syston 15-10 Sheffield

Scun-thorpe’s visit to the second city proved a real test for them as they suffered a red card after 20 mins and then 3 yellow cards in the final quarter. Despite this they weathered the storm, secured the try bonus point and denied Bournville a precious losing bonus point. Bridgnorth suffered a home defeat to Sandbach, which all but confirms their status in this league. Burton put serious dent in Newport’s ambitions whose disappointing, pointless second half performance, after leading 26-8 at half time, may come to haunt them at the end of the season. Derby were relegated on Saturday after a drubbing from Luctonians. Doncaster’s win over Lichfield means that they are now safe from the drop after spending much of the season in the relegation zone. In the Warwickshire derby, Nuns came out on top over Broadstreet, putting pay to any ambitions the visitors may have had to bounce straight back to level 4. Syston keep their slim hopes of survival alive with a good home win over Sheffield.

Again, there were some shock results the supressed the scoring in the prediction league. However a couple of lucky guesses have from me and a bad week for Friendly Prop means that the gap at the top of the league and second place has stretched to 7 points.
