Bournville v Newport 0-5 First test on 4G for Salop this season, hopefully followed by Wolves beating Spurs at Kissball
Bridgnorth v Luctonians 1-4 Thought this would be North first true test, but last week ruined that prediction. Could be heavy going if the predicted storm sweeps in
Broadstreet v Lichfield 1-5 Don't know what to make of Street, won five games without convincing
Burton v Doncaster 5-2 Don't coupon bust like last week please Burton
Scun-thorpe v Sandbach 5-0 Easiest one to call
Sheffield v Nuneaton 5-0 Evenly balanced but take Sheff to bounce back
Syston v Derby 5-1 Position in table means I am going to have to throw in a few Speculators from now on!

Another poor week last week.....let's see what happens with these uncalculated guesses

Bournville v Newport =A Newport's first time on plastic, hence the training pitch being covered in silage wrapping

Bridgnorth v Luctonians = A Bridgnorth will be under the cosh

Broadstreet v Lichfield = A Thinking that Lichfield will start where they finished last week!

Burton v Doncaster = H Thinking/hoping that Burton will be encouraged by the mauling they dished out last week

Scun-thorpe v Sandbach = H despite the heritage of the Sandbach XV, they will find it difficult to get any traction against Scunny

Sheffield v Nuneaton = H This could be a tight game....home advantage prevails

Syston v Derby =H Based on the Law of Averages!

Bournville v Newport AWAY but only just for Port's first ever game on AGP
Bridgnorth v Lucton AWAY Lucs will reap revenge for recent cup defeat to North
Broadstreet v Lichfield AWAY I never back Lich to win so maybe now is the time - if they can get enough ball they will be too clever and pacey in the backs for Street
Burton v Doncaster HOME Donny are already 15 points adrift of safety so need to turn things round pretty sharpish but can't see it being this week in the Burton rain-forest
Scun-thorpe v Sandbach HOME Scunny to win with relative ease but Bach to pick up their statutory 4 try bonus point and maybe a second for getting within 7 (Bach, Newport & Bridgnorth the only teams to have picked up at least a point in every game so far - one for the Stato's amongst you!!)
Sheffield v Nuns HOME Sheff to edge a low scoring affair
Syston v Derby AWAY Must win for Derby, Syston almost gone already?

Bournville v Newport AW Close but Port to power through
Bridgnorth v Luctonians AW Lucs still my tip for title. North over achieving small squad hit by injuries
Broadstreet v Lichfield HW Home advan to beat the enigma that is Field
Burton v Doncaster HW Burton to carry on last weeks form. Donny implosion?
Scun-thorpe v Sandbach HW Long way for Bach. Scunny always strong at home
Sheffield v Nuneaton HW Field not lost at home Nuns hit and miss
Syston v Derby AW Inclined to agree that Syston are almost certainly gonners

Bournville v Newport A – ‘port will enjoy the surface

Bridgnorth v Luctonians H - tough game to predict. Both need the game to cement their title credentials

Broadstreet v Lichfield H – Lichfield seem to be poorer on the road

Burton v Doncaster A – I just have a feeling that something has changed with the Donny team

Scun-thorpe v Sandbach H – Sandbach’s home grown team to struggle on the road

Sheffield v Nuneaton H –with both teams having a 4-4 record, this has to be a home win

Syston v Derby A – a nice fixture for Derby to recover from last week’s disaster

Life is a game but rugby is serious!

This weeks guesses

Bournville v Newport (Salop) AW Newport good on any surface
Bridgnorth v Luctonians HW 'North good at home Lucs less lucky on the road
Broadstreet v Lichfield HW Street 1 of each at home, Lich unpredictable especially on the road.
Burton v Doncaster HW Another difficult one to predict, Donny at some point are going to turn it round.
Sunny Scunny v Sandbach HW Sunny bright like todays' weather. Bach no easy team though.
Sheffield v Nuneaton HW Sheffield good at home but Nuns do like to turn up away though.
Syston v Derby AW Derby to bounce back after last weeks' hiccup

Weird game at Syston. Home team 24 - 0 up after 30 minutes playing uphill and into the wind as Derby continued with their lacklustre display from the previous week. They finally found their mojo in the 2nd half (uphill and into the wind still) to win 39 - 29.

Syston continue not to charge an entry fee or offer a program.  Each to their own I guess.

2nd team game was good too as Syston edged it narrowly in an 80 pointer,

Great result for Bridgnorth despite unavailability of 6 regular first xv players! Very entertaining match with no quarter given played out in front of a large crowd of vociferous supporters!

Round 9 results are

Bournville 32-39 Newport

Bridgnorth 15-7 Luctonians

Broadstreet 71-7 Lichfield

Burton 18-43 Doncaster

Scun-thorpe 15-8 Sandbach

Sheffield 24-3 Nuneaton

Syston 29-39 Derby

Newport remained in control of this game despite score line, having secured the bonus point by half time and then opening up a14 point lead before the Chocolate boys came back at them to secure two bonus points. Bridgnorth held Lucs out in a tight encounter at the Edgar Davis ground to consolidate their 3rd place. A one sided affair saw Broadstreet put unpredictable Lichfield to the sword. Doncaster put their problems behind them when they dominated Burton in the first half. Despite attaining some parity in the second half, Burton had too much to do and suffered a heavy defeat.  Scun-thorpe were besieged in the second half by Sandbach but despite this, the visitors could not break down the leader’s defence who ran out 15-8 winners. Sheffield recorded a bonus point win over a lack-lustre performance by Nuns. Syston threw away a gilt edged opportunity to secure their first win of the season when they let slip a 24-point lead to lose to Derby.

This week was a good week for me and has allowed me to make up any loss from Week 3 where I forgot to make a prediction. It jumps me up to joint leader with Bin LickerStar. Let’s not have any of this “good marker” nonsense from Friendly Prop, please

We have a week off next Saturday so that we can all watch England do over the All Blacks Embarrassed
