Not really. We certainly lose players upwards. (As I guess we all do) but there's not much (if any) swapping of players between L5 clubs as we see across the Birmingham central band. I wasn't being critical; it's just a factor of geography and large close centres of population that are able to support large numbers of big clubs all close to one another. One unwanted side-effect of paying players is a reduction in club loyalty. This must also contribute to the Annual Merry-go-Round effect. I assume something similar goes on around the capital?

As can be testified by both Old Hales and Longton last season and a few others no doubt previously.

I am pleased to report that Bournville is represented on this forum. I read everything with great interest (although I seldom post). We have quietly strengthened our squad over the summer and numbers at training have been good. We are already using our new AGP. The clubhouse will be handed over to us on 24 August and we open the new facility for business on 15 September for our first home game against Broadstreet. I hope you will all enjoy your visits to Avery Fields and the superb new facilities we have built.

Interesting pre-season fixture on Saturday
Harrogate (3rd North Prem last season) v Newport(Salop) (3rd Mids Prem) Its also a Wooden Spoon Charity fixture with John Bentley speaking at the pre-match lunch and lots of other entertainment going on Both teams unlikely to be at full strength but possibly worth a visit if you've nowt better to do 3pm kick off |

Bridgnorth playing at Stourbridge tomorrow 3pm kick off. First test of the new coaching setup & a chance for the new signings to stake a claim for first team positions.

Nuns played last night at Lutterworth RFC. Nuns won 19-0 in 4 x 20mins sessions. Squad players and aspiring youngsters given a chance to shine. Good workout for all. Thanks Lutterworth.

Thoroughly enjoyable run out b both teams today. Score unimportant as match was played in great sporting spirit and friendship. Harrogate just squeezed it, but the main winner was The Wooden Spoon Charity. ![]() ![]() Already talk of a return match at Newport this time next year. Bring it on as the travelling supporters from Newport were a great bunch. Best wishes to Newport for the new season and maybe instead of both being 3rd in our leage we may get promoted to Nat2N. ![]() |

Nip and tuck yesterday for much of the game at Bradwall Road. Burton have definitely beefed up since their last foray into Level 5 and will prove to be a handful for many sides this season.
'bach came through mainly because of an edge in fitness and tempo but will be pondering on the lack of penetration outside the pack, usually a strength.
