Ref wasn't sure about the pitch at Derby at 1.00, but all agreed it would be ok in the end and a very hard fought game took place, Lions holding out with valiant defence at the end when down to 14 men. Well played Lions!

Could be a fixture pile up for some clubs in the second half of the season if any more bad weather.

I was under the impression it was down to the teams/captains/ref to call games off?

League rules state postponements need to be ratified by a referee (not necessarily the allocated match official) so in theory a club member who is registered with Society could ratify the postponement
Bizarrely it can also be called off if either captain deems pitch to be dangerous - ref doesn't have a say if that's the case
Difficult for Bournville - if your Landlord says you're not allowed to play then not much they can do about it
What was the state of the Bournbrook pitches on which they have played virtually every other game?
Sooner they have their own place the better!!!

If both captains are happy to play then the ref must start the game. However once he blows the whistle the decision to carry on playing now passes to him. So in theory he could blow to start the game and as soon as the ball has been touched blow again and call the game off. (But only for the approved reasons such as player safety etc...).

This week’s results are:

Bournville-P-Bees

Bridgnorth-P-Sandbach

Derby 8-14 Peterborough Lions

Doncaster Phoenix 103-0 Old Halesonians

Lichfield 14-19 Nuneaton

Longton-P-Newport

Newbold 5-36 Skunthorpe

Lions close the gap at the top to 7 points with a good win at ever improving Derby. Doncaster inflict a third defeat on Hales by a century of points. Nuns manage to hold off a Lichfield come back, having scored all their points in the 1st half. Scunny  sign 2017 off with a bonus point win away to strugglers, Newbold.

In the prediction league, those who manage to get all 4 right collect their bonus point this week. The remainder will have to wait until week 14 fixtures are completed, presumably on 24th Feb.

Wishing you all greetings of the season and a prosperous new year both on and off the field
