This week’s results are:

Bridgnorth 42-13 Bournville

Derby 23-36 B’ham & Solihull

Doncaster Phoenix 48-28 Sandbach

Lichfield 34-41 Peterborough Lions

Longton 50-7 Old Halesonians

Newport 8 -12 Skunthorpe

Nuneaton 28-3 Newbold

Bridgnorth’s comprehensive win over relegation rivals reflects better their ability as a side and lifts them 9 points clear of the drop zone. A late burst from Derby was not quite enough to give them a bonus point against a Bees side that shook of the rustiness of last week’s performance to complete their 14th consecutive league win. Phoenix’s comprehensive win over Sandbach seems to have spoiled the visitor’s recent good form. A high scoring game at Cooke Fields saw Lichfield give promotion contenders Lions a mighty big scare and in doing so secured 2 bonus points that sees them move 6 points clear of  the 3rd relegation spot. Longton’s win over poor old Hales helped them close on Bournville. Newport’s ambitions were dealt a blow in a low scoring game against the ever improving Skunthorpe and Nuns win over Warwickshire rivals, Newbold, moves them up to 6th place and makes Newbold’s future fate more certain.

In the prediction league, the key fixtures were the results at Donny and Newport and only 2 got those right. Well done to Bin licker and Bretton Boy who have managed full houses this week Star. At the top, my correct prediction of the Donny fixture allows me Clap to squeeze out a 1 point advantage over Rdh160.

Was good to meet up with Cobbler on Saturday. Hope the AGP works out well for you guys

Some lessons to be learned here. 4 Yellows (which resulted in a Red) doesn't help against a pacy outfit like Donny. You can't play half the game with less than 15 men and expect to come away with a win.

Despite the score it was an engaging game throughout with both teams working hard in defence and attack. It's the 1st time I've seen a 0-0 Ht score. It was eventually down to mistakes fortunately we made one less. I'm sure there will have been some battered bodies yesterday.

Sandbach should have stuck it up their jumpers, they totally dominated Phoenix up front. Not pretty stuff but I think it would have worked for them.
Winning isn't everything, it just makes the beer taste better
