Week 25 results:

Bees 26-33 Sandbach

Bournville 36-55 Peterborough Lions

Bridgnorth 57-14 Old Halesonians

Derby 44-31 Nuneaton

Doncaster Phoenix 21-54 Newport

Lichfield 27-21 Newbold

Skunthorpe 47-17 Longton

It was a case of “after the Lord Mayor’s Show” at Portway, with Bees being distinctly out of sorts in the first half. A much better showing in the second half saw Bees close the deficit and take the lead but an outstanding kicking display from Sandbach’s Ben Elliot, allowed the Cheshire side to take the deserved win. Lions took a giant step to securing the play off place with a big win against Bournville. If they match or better the number of points that Newport get next week it will be theirs to play. Bridgnorth had a regulation win against Old Hales and Derby and Nuneaton slugged it out in the heat only for Nuns to fall away at the end. Doncaster were unable to stop Newport secure their 15th try bonus win and for them to maintain the pressure on Lions. Lichfield’s last minute score to win a tight contest consigned Newbold to return to level 6 rugby where they will be joined by Longton who were easily beaten by SKiwifruithorpe.

The “easy 10” was scuppered by my team for many of you pundits but ultimately it hasn't changed anything at the top. With one round and a game to go there are a maximum of 11 points for most of us. My 8 7 point cushion looks like it might be difficult for any of you to catch me up but you never know Embarrassed

Stallion my old mucker, I have said previously that a good marker always beats a good player, I appear to be still those 2 points short from last week. I was 1 point in front of Westwood I score 1 more than him this week and still I'm behind him. You've had too many shandies lately it's addling your brain.  LOL
