SSR, you really haven't changed for the better over the years. Still bitter and twisted about any club other than Stourbridge. Keep on fishing if it makes you happy.

Its tough in Nat1,your up against big players ,big budgets, bigger squads ,Duel reg and loans .We could compete if we had a full strength 18 every week ,but injuries are more frequent due to a faster game with bigger hits and we had a terrible run from dec.Lads are still in good spirit and we will not go down without a fight. If we had the option of drafting 8 or more players in to save ourselves would we have ? I hope not ,its not who we are.
is it stours year yet

SSR,
Can't believe you are still in a job. You must come cheap.

I was gracious enough to you & Mrs O when we met back in January but then again, you didn't have an idiot announcer.
Good luck for next season or, at the Job Centre, which ever comes first.

Thumbs Up

Sale FC drafts in full time pros from the Sale Sharks
Cinderford have Gloucester pros
Loughborough students have Leicester Tigers .............

...........the list goes on. It is absolutely not a level playing field by any stretch of the imagination and the talent pool for most clubs is augmented by up to 8 or so full time pros from the Premiership clubs. Having said that the rugby is great and so are the Nat 1 clubs and people

However I am proud and delighted that for the most part Caldy have been able to hold their end up and they have beaten virtually all sides in the league at least once  (exceptions I think being only Coventry,Plymouth Albion and Rotherham Titans).

Caldy can still stay up but will probably need 62 points and hope Cambridge falter...........if it is just about team spirit and togetherness they will make it happen but if they do not ..........our friends in Nat 2 North beckon

If the Students do come down I will be hoping the Tigers let the Lions get a few of the Academy lads next year lol.

As an interloper, the Nat 2N table is confusing me.

On the NCA website Otley have 81 points.
Otley28170116435984514381

On the England Rugby Site they have 85 points.
Otley28170116435984514385

Would anyone know why there is a difference?

Everything was OK with the exception of the guy on the Macc loudspeaker.
I don't agree with joining in the match every time the Macc team were within 20m of the opposition line. Not often I admit but frankly embarrassing.
Then when he announced us as "Onions", it was nothing but dispresectful.

Macc, you are better than that. Get rid of him and the fools who were encouraging him.

Really. ??? I have been to Macc and loved how their guy adds to the fun.
I think your club knows a thing or two about disrespecting other clubs though. And hang on a moment, are they not relegated. Display some humility.

When questioned, he said his friend at Stourbridge would support his comments.
'Humility', I think we acted appropriately and respectfully on the day. It's a shame he didn't.

Oh dear, blotted my copy book big style! I did apologise to the Hull contingency for the 'Hull Onions' reference, a slip-of-the-tongue rather than intended disrespect Sid. And you have misquoted any reference to friends at Stourbridge.  With regard to getting the crowd going when the ball is 'not in play' with such biased comments as: "time to get behind your team" and "come on; you can shout as loud as you like"; it's not for everyone Sid, but I will carry on until told to stop - but not by you! Best of luck back in Nat1.

Its all a bit hi-de-hi for me, especially when you join in during a Macc push in the opposition 22. Embarrassing really.
I would note your cringing supporters on the far touchline who said "it's alright for you, we have to listen to him every match".

You have a good day today with Senile, Mrs O and your mate YS.

Let’s hope old big mouth keeps his mouth shut today. If I hear him refer to us as dour I will indeed report back.
Let’s hope he and Mrs O remember it’s a family club this year.
I see a celebrity slot on our microphone. Our guy is a idiot.

Sid,

It`s not embarrassing - it`s banter.  Embarrassing is watching Hull Ionians officials tapping up Macclesfield players before they`d even left the pitch at the end of the game!!  Unsure on the laws re tapping up players, but it was unethical at best and not what one would expect.

What rubbish Finkleman,
Why can't players and officials of either side, who clearly know each other, speak to each other after a match? Be serious, travel issues alone would suggest that we would not be looking to tap up anyone located near Macclesfield.
And, 'banter' is one thing, 'disrespect' is another.

Was that an honest horse who was genuinely approached or one that might fancy having a go at Nat 1 rather than Northern Premier?
We all know that what actually happens and what players say can vary greatly.

I thought the Students had collectively rejected the idea of being a vehicle for Tigers to play their fringe players in Nat 1 hence ending the arrangement.
In my days at Luffbra it was the students who were invited to bail out the Tigers in their Extras and Swifts sides - but that was a long time ago!
I thought I had read it on here, but maybe I was mistaken.

As far as I can find on google, there was only 5 players from the students that played for Tigers first team and I cannot recall instances where students turned out for the Tigers Extras or Swifts. Quite a few people I knew played in those teams and I don't remember the Students being involved up to the early 1980's at least.
