Congratulations to Barnes for securing their return to Level 4 at the first time of asking and good luck to Guernsey in their playoff next week against Bournemouth.
Westcombe Park could not get the win they needed against Tring who have had an incredible season, well played.

The final Prediction Table is below, top scorer this week was Sarfender with 27 points, if only he had predicted a Guidford bonus point he would have had the full house!
Well done to Thames Estuary Man who has been around the top of the table all season, he is this seasons runner up.

This seasons winner though, who also had an excellent score today of 25 points is Alacadoo Trainee, bloody well done!Clap

Enjoy your summers everyone.

Thanks very much Fatty for running the predictions game. It’s made looking for each Saturday’s results that little bit more fun. Well done to Alacadoo trainee for coming out on top.

It’s been a great season for my club Westcliff. Our highest ever finish. We’ve had some big wins, when we were able to field our strongest side and things clicked. On other weeks when our strength in depth was really tested, those that came in did well and when things didn’t go so well for us we didn’t roll over but instead went down fighting. I’m proud of our players.

It’s been a great league this year. Best wishes to those clubs who we won’t now face next season, especially Towcestrians who were dealt a tough hand this time round. I’m looking forward to the summer now, but give it about 3 months and I’ll be missing my rugby again.

I'd absolutely echo all of the above.

Thank you Fatty for the time and effort put in to make this work and give us all a little added entertainment each week, and congrats to Alacadoo trainee.

For TW it's been a great season as well. A steep learning curve, certainly initially, culminating in our highest ever finish in the league system as well.  As much as I'm looking forward to a couple of months off I'm already wondering whether we'll have many changes for next season, and how we'll compete a second time around.  Bring it on... but not just yet!

Yes, many thanks Fatty for all your efforts and congratulations to Alicado Trainee.

Not the end of season I would have chosen but these things come around and we are still higher than around the turn of the millennium so we will just have to pull our socks up again. At our peak I had trips to Cornwall many times , Halifax, Ottley and probably the best of all a couple of trips to Wharfedale. So lets look on the bright side as I can now enjoy a whole season without touching the M25 and especially the Dartford Crossing.

Incidentally Fatty whilst in retrospective mode I fondly recall the days prior to leagues when our games with Hertford were on the weekend before Christmas and you had the local brass band in the club house for a good old fasioned sing song and the odd, very odd sometimes, carol. We played through out the club so some sides were home and others away so it was not unkown for some of the Southend players to join the coach back to Hertford for the evening. Thats what the game is really all about not just league positions.

Thanks for the hospitality everyone and look forward to our paths crossing in the not too distant future.

Thought Park were going to achieve the impossible yesterday, leading at halftime time. Ultimately Tring showed their class and pulled away.

Good match to watch for the neutral, maybe not so much for the Park supporters I was sitting with.

Big congrats to Fatty1973 - for running an excellent and amusing predictor game and the additional entertainment for us building up to the weekend.

It looks like Wimbledon have the form to stay at N2S - good luck they have been battling for the last 2 months, might be interesting how the league will look next season.

What happened to WP, form team back end of last season.
TW/RTW/Tunbridge - might also be the dark horse for next season, depends on recruitment
Brentwood will be tough if they can keep all their players don't think many teams will like playing on their postage stamp of a pitch

Hope all have a lovely summer and look forward to the banter next season

Sarfender, the Christmas carol service is still one of the highlights or the HRFC social calendar, complete with 'Ware Brass' (The band, not one of the local ladies!)  The musical director/conductor/MC was the 1st XV wing/fullback Bernard Murphy (my big brother) and he is approaching his 40th year in charge of it. (and still can't read a note of music)

The carol song sheet has barely changed either and still contains a few well known carols like 'The battle hymn of the Republic'.  Every year someone brings up the Southend boys staying around for the evening and not getting on there own coach back home.

Many memorable games against an always tough Southend, although with the likes of 'Wookie, Stokoe and Catchpole baring down on me I can't say it was always enjoyable on the field.  ... Great times and we hope to see you back soon.
