Secondrow, I agree with you re the need for extensive recruitment for any teams that get promoted and I’m not sure Westcliff would be able to do that. More through injury/unavailability than design Westcliff made 5 or 6 changes to the team that beat Sidcup emphatically before Xmas and one player made his debut so, MaskedChicken, whilst not necessarily by choice Westcliff are developing and still getting (some) good results.

On to my predictions:
Brentwood 0-5 Sidcup
CS 5-0 Bedford A
Guildford 0-5 Hertford
Tring 5-0 Chingford
S&E 4-0 Dorking
Wimbledon 5-0 Shelford

Was at the Wells V Shelford game at the weekend. I don't think anyone from Shelford would disagree with me saying that the scoreline did flatter them. Apart from a couple of 5 minute spells, T Wells were in control. Wells dropped 2 try scoring opportunities from my count within 5 meters of the line as well as a very "interesting" decision at a 5 meter scrum when the dominant Wells pack drove over the line, only for the ref to give Shelford a get out of jail pen. This was the only scrum pen in the game, where Wells took a a few against the head and were (in my opinion) legally dominant. Shelford had a few stand out players, especially their 5 who I heard was A, only 18 and B, may have been a Cambridge loanee? Apologies if incorrect.
One area Wells have to improve is their discipline. They were down to 13 I think last 5 minutes and gave away countless "dumb" penalties.

Anyway onto this week. I think I'm just going to start flipping a coin...will probably give a much more accurate prediction!

Brentwood 1-v-4 Sidcup - I'm going for a tight away win for the more experienced CCUUUPPP

CS Stags 1863 5-v-1 Bedford Athletic - What a result for CS last week. I think they will score big against BA, whom themselves could score 4.

Guildford 0 -v- 5 Hertford - G's bubble looks to have burst. Herts want to get back in the W this week. I think Hert to powerful for a G's side who seem to be in a bit of a pickle.

Sutton & Epsom 1 -v- 4 Dorking - I think this will be a close one. And I think D's will edge it. No real reason why I think that!

Tring 4 -v- 1 Chingford - Tring aren't the force they once were. Chingford have a simple game plan, but fight tooth and nail for each other. A close home win, but could be an upset.

Westcliff 5 -v- 2 Tunbridge Wells - Depends entirely on which Wells turns up! I'm going for a close home win going on form and that Westcliff is a pig for away teams.

Wimbledon 5 -v- 0 Shelford - One way traffic I'm afraid. The Dons pack will have a field day.

I honestly don’t know. Just a rumour that went round. I guess someone mentioned it in the bar after a game.

It’s good to know that it might not be the case because it would be farcical to see unusual results towards the end of the season and promotion & relegation being more of a lottery.

I’d say without a shadow of a doubt Wimbledon are aiming for promotion.

An emphatic performance from the boys in white, the perfect antidote to the bitterness of that fatefully cold day at Westcliff a few weeks ago. In what must be a Cup first, the Backs outscored the forwards with a couple of the finest trys you will ever see on sand, in what was a near complete performance. Stand out result for the day was of course the CS mauling of Tring which I did not see coming for one minute, was it a case of injuries, Tring not having as much to play for, or perhaps just a brilliant performance by some rutting Stags? Its getting incredibly spicy!

Brentwood 0-5 Sidcup - Hopefully we can kick on from last week and put in another great performance, I was impressed with Brentwoods confrontational style and offloading game last time so should be a cracker.
CS 5-2 Bedford A - Last week i would have this down as an Ath win all over, but how can I look beyond the CS boys now?
Guildford 0-5 Hertford - Herts will be hurting from last weeks result, I feel that Gs could be pulled into the relegation quagmire and have a couple of tough months ahead, although, ultimately expect them to have too much quality to drop
Tring 5-0 Chingford - What the hell happened? Tring to right the wrongs at home
S&E 4-1 Dorking - Big big derby and by far the MOTD. Having watched both, I think Dorking are actually a slightly better and more of a complete team than S&E, but i simply cant ignore their form or league position. Home win in a thriller.
Westcliff 5-0 Tunbridge Wells - Great win for Westcliff last week and very formidable at home
Wimbledon 5-0 Shelford - Squeaky bum time for the dons last week, not so much this week.

I hope everyone enjoy as a glorious weekend of rugby,
DD

I heard last year when I was in Guernsey that their hierarchy also didn't want promotion but look what happened in the end.

Surely everybody wants promotion?! Whats the point in turning up if not to win? Why bother training, sacrificing time for family and often work to go through the motions?

Its been a while since I was trundling around a pitch but I remember rugby hurting far too much to just want to turn up to play. It was about winning and then sharing a few shandys with your pals (if you were lucky enough to have any).

I appreciate the jump in standard would be massive, and you would be going up against teams that mostly all pay their players considerable sums each week, but who wouldn't want to spend afternoons at the likes of Taunton and Redruth, standing in the fabled hell fire corner, watching their club play at the highest possible level they can?! I know I would love Sidcup go up, rise to the challenge, and get to the highest level the club has ever been whilst staying true to our community values. Now that would be a real achievement.

Brentwood 0-5 Sidcup Two side that I like the style of and admire their confrontation approach. Could be the other way round !
CS Stags 5-0 Bedford Athletic. With the weather set fair CS back to run riot
Guildford 0-5 Hertford Hertford to Good and Guildford looking for a few more on field leaders.
Sutton & Epsom 1-4 This really could be the other way around but D's defence just to clinch it
Tring 4-0 Chingford. Not sure what to make of Trings up and down season but always strong at Home
Westcliff 5-0 TunbridgeWells  Westcliffe good club with values Iwould like to see promoted with their team
Wimbledon 5-0 Shelford Dons could do with a bit of the Westcliff culture if they are to be promoted and survive
