I saw the Hertford v Guildford game yesterday, the conditions were not good but there were way too many mistakes, neither team impressed, well done to Guildford for winning but Hertford are a shadow of their normal selves.
Very low scoring week for the predictions, lots of away victories and a draw.
Congratulations to Storm, top scoring this week with 17 points.

I did badly last week. It wouldn’t have been quite so bad if I hadn’t changed my mind and edited my TW v Westcliff prediction from right to wrong after Id seen the team sheet !!
Some really tough games again in my mind this week. I fancy Tring, Westcliff and Wimbledon, but after that I’m tossing a coin !

Bedford Athletic 0 - 5 Chingford
Brentwood 5 - 0 Hertford
Guildford 1 - 4 Tunbridge Wells
Sutton & Epsom 5 - 0 Sidcup
Tring 5 - 0 Dorking
Westcliff 5 - 0 Shelford
Wimbledon 5 - 0 CS Stags 1863

Sidcup v Brentwood...…………...Sidcup were well below par and missing several key players. Referee had real problems keeping up with play and made a very poor try awarding decision in favour of Brentwood because of this. Words exchanged by both sets of supporters with one Brentwood supporter running half way round the pitch to carry on the exchange of words well after the event! Brentwood did play well in the loose and have two very capable centres, but thankfully for Sidcup no kicker. A draw was the right result.

Bedford Athletic -v- Chingford 4-2
Brentwood -v- Hertford 4-1
Guildford -v- Tunbridge Wells  2-5
Sutton & Epsom -v- Sidcup 2-4
Tring -v- Dorking 5-0
Westcliff -v- Shelford 5-0
Wimbledon -v- CS Stags 1863 5-0

Another great game on Saturday away to Sidcup and another game that we should have won. As like every team we've faced this year Sidcup had a big powerful forward pack. They looked short of ideas in the backs, maybe missing some players? Certain section of the home crowd were less than complimentary about Essex and our proud Towie connection. Also swore and shouted as our young flyhalf kicked after a close call for our try, not good. As a blazer-wearing Sidcup fan said as we headed for the bar 'That's what's called getting in the head of a kicker'. Should be an interesting game at our place.

Bedford Athletic 4 v 1 Chingford Bedford have lost to good teams this year and Chingford not strong
Brentwood 4 v 1 Hertford Should be 3 wins from 4 this year, looking to get back on track
Guildford 1 v 4 Tunbridge Wells TW look good
Sutton & Epsom 4 v 1 Sidcup Going with home advantage
Tring 4 v 1 Dorking Home advantage should do it
Westcliff 5 v 0 Shelford Long season ahead for Shelford
Wimbledon 5 v 0 CS Stags 1863 Wimbledon to keep the run going

Had the misfortune to witness a group of Sidcup twenty somethings in club blazers screaming abuse at a young OE's flanker after he was bundled into touch at the Kent Cup final. They were almost face to face.Elderly gent ( possibly his father ? ) stepped in to deflect the abuse and was met with an equally disgusting tirade. Horrible.

Bedford Athletic 1 v 5 Chingford. Bedford staring down the barrel already.
Brentwood 4 v1 Hertford. Something not right at Hertford and Brentwood appear difficult to beat at home.
Guildford 4 v1 Tunbridge Wells. Was epecting RTW to challenge at the top this season but their results have been disappointing, Guildford to nick a close affair.
Sutton & Epsom 4 v1 Sidcup. Always close between these two, Sutton may have some absentees returning but it will be interesting to see if they keep faith with those who done so well at Dorking, home advantage the difference.
Tring 5 v 0 Dorking. Dorking not the force they once were whilst Tring are the only serious challengers to Wimbledon.
Westcliff 5 v 0 Shelford. Wesdtcliff to carry on their impressive start to the season.
Wimbledon 5 v 0 CS Stags 1863. Only one result here.

Insignificant Tick - The Kent Cup Final was a fantastic game of rugby closely contested and with both sets of supporters vocal but not abusive. It was nothing short of a classic local derby.  You really need to think before even bothering to comment on this forum or change your name appropriately!

Don't deny it was a great game which made the terrible behaviour so out of place. I saw and heard what I saw & heard. Not sure why I have to think before commenting or change a name . If you are upset then too bad, find another forum.

Have to say that when I went down to Sidcup last season, the behaviour of some of their fans watching a 2nd team game v Westcombe Park was borderline to say the least. Kids football has to have a rope to keep fans back from the pitch perhaps adult rugby needs the same as there were a few incursions.

That the same mob then turned their attention to the first team game made it quite intense and very entertaining. Not sure how much of a favour it did their team though when they started trying to influence the ref.

I caught the 2nd half of Hertford v Guildford on Saturday and it was pretty thin fare, even allowing for the atrocious weather. Two points I chuck out for discussion:

1) having won a scrum penalty, Guildford celebrated like they had won the league, tantamount to taunting the opposition who reacted in the expected way and a melee ensued. Why isn't this rubbish reaction penalised as unsportsmanlike behaviour? Is it really necessary for outside backs to charge up and pat all the forwards on the back? A bit pathetic really.
PS: It irritates me when hertford do it too!

2) Credit to the Gs left wing who, on the final whistle, ignored the general Guildford love-in that was going on (fair enough, they had won) to jog 40 odd yards to shake his opposite numbers hand first. Old school politeness: well done sir.

Bedford Athletic -v- Chingford     1-5    still not sure about these 2.
Brentwood -v- Hertford                1-4    Time for the team, the selectors and the coaches to wake up.
Guildford -v- Tunbridge Wells      2-5     Guildford better than last year, though we made them look even better on Saturday. TW have the tools to win.
Sutton & Epsom -v- Sidcup           3-3    Absolutely no idea whatsoever, hence the draw.
Tring -v- Dorking                           5-0    Tring carrying on where they left off last season.
Westcliff -v- Shelford                    5-0    This could turn ugly.
Wimbledon -v- CS Stags 1863      5-0     Wimbledon to continue their merry path back to Nat 2.

Bedford Athletic 0 - 5 Chingford Bedford seem to be finding it difficult whereas Chingford have adapted well
Brentwood 1 - 4 Hertford Tight, could probably go the other way.
Guildford 4 - 1 Tunbridge Wells Consecutive wins for the first time in a year.
Sutton & Epsom 5 - 0 Sidcup Didn't see S&E result coming last week.  Sidcup not overly impressive.
Tring 5 - 0 Dorking Despite beating us in game 2.  D's dont seem to be as strong as before.  Even with their SA import.
Westcliff 5 - 0 Shelford Hoping for Shelfords woes to continue for at least 2 more weeks when we visit.
Wimbledon 5 - 0 CS Stags 1863 Who will beat Wimbledon?

I too often wonder when a open wing / full back etc come in and join a celebration.  It certainly seems to rub most up the wrong way when on the receiving end.  However what it must do is give those forwards a big boost.
I suppose if an open wing / full back ran in to join in a scuffle he would be at very least spoken to by the ref for needless involvement.  Is it looked at differently because he is 'celebrating' with his team as opposed to joining a 'fight'
(wing / full back because they are often furthest away)

2) Credit to the Gs left wing who, on the final whistle, ignored the general Guildford love-in that was going on (fair enough, they had won) to jog 40 odd yards to shake his opposite numbers hand first. Old school politeness: well done sir.
Our 11 is a good club man and I would expect nothing else from him.  Nice to see that it didn't go unnoticed.  Probably worth nothing that he may well have celebrated the hardest on the coach home though!
