I have just returned from Hoe Lane where Hertford ran riot over a disappointing Westcombe Park. Hertford have some key players back from long term injury and the team played with great confidence with some excellent try's scored, albeit against a very porous defense.
Southend Saxons move above Chichester in the league and although the former have the tougher run in, I am sure that they are not afraid of anyone at the moment.
Not many of you predicted Shelfords win over Westcliff.

Well done to Masked Chicken, Dantheman and Wally, all top scoring with 24 points.

I watched Westcliff v Shelford and knew it was going to be a long day for Westcliff before the kickoff when I saw the team sheet. Several key players missing, including both props. Two hookers and a second team lock in the front row, with the only front row replacement being a third hooker. The scrum was never going anywhere other than backwards. A couple of key backs missing as well. Shelford were well deserved winners.

I was at TJ's on saturday for the Dorking fixture, and must say I was not impressed with the performance of the champions elect, who looked at times very average and pedestrian, and were 2nd best in the scrummages for most of the game. Whether that was because of the superb effort put in by our very young Dorking team, or underestimation by TJ's, I am not sure. Dorking opened the scoring and were equal in most departments for the first 40. With the score 12-7 at the break I was confident we could nick something from the game, however TJ's were not to be denied and clearly a few words were said at the break. Overall the final scoreline 28-7 did not reflect the parity of the two sides with end to end rugby entertaining the crowd. On this performance I thought TJ's looked tired and vulnerable (at times) from the exertions of a tough season. Although they eventually won the game it was not convincing. Either that or I am under-estimating the talent and progress made by our emerging lads. Probably a bit of both, but on this performance I think the Fat Lady has not started her warm up, let alone sung, and whoever wins this league are in for a real big shock next season. Shocked

I was at Southend Saturday and was impressed with Southend's performance. It's not a coincidence that this good run (except Guernsey) has come at the same time as a settled team selection. Other than a few changes here and there it's been the same 15.

The forwards were powerful and dominant and apart from a 10 min period kept the mistakes and penalties to a minimum. The backs are playing with confidence and pace, the youngsters who have come in have made a real difference.

It may be too late but it shows how much this team could have achieved this year, injuries and ill discipline really hit the early part of the season. I'm really proud of the way they've hit back over the last few months, should be an interesting run in.

Long season and some injuries for most teams I guess but Dorking have talented players and are more than capable especially if teams play below par. For TJs to win with a BP below par is what wins titles. Looking at it, if Tjs win with a bonus point against SE this week and Wimbledon leave the Island of Guernsey empty handed then TJs are Champions.

Cant argue with that. I was just thinking that the top 2 in the league are both away to the two relegated teams from N2S on the final day of the season. With Southend fighting for survival again and Wimbledon having a better points scored differential than TJ's, this day could decide who are champions. A couple of games to go before then of course which might settle it anyway. Could also be interesting in the play-off with Wimbledon likely to meet Dings Crusaders (as it now stands) another relegated N2S side. The permutations look interesting.

I believe that the first criteria if teams are tied will be games won and TJs have the better record so far. Then its head to head which is 2-0 TJs then points difference which is 20 points in favour of the Wombled
