Not sure whether it's congratulations or commiserations for Athman. There can't be many sides that score 6 tries and only draw. Very strong set of backs undone by missed conversions. I couldn't find you after the game. You must really try and get out of the showers faster. Catch you around..

Sorry mate, we were all a bit down because having seen the other results come in we realised we were relegated. Which rather spoiled everything. Good to see you before the game though and good luck for the rest of the season!

Great result for Bridgnorth today! Four wins on the bounce have given us a real chance of surviving our first season at National 3.

This week's results were

Lichfield

45-24

Towcestrians

Longton

33-32

Derby

Nuneaton

12-17

Broadstreet

Old Halesonians

13-31

Bridgnorth

Peterborough Lions

23-10

Bees

Sandbach

37-37

Bedford Athletic

Sheffield

34-0

Syston

Well managed to get those beers with Westwood1944 and Harvey Mac. Thank you, gents, for your hospitality and, if you dont get into that second place, I look forward to reciprocating next season.

With Bedford managing the draw only to discover that Longton squeeked a win, those results confirms Ath to the bottom 2 places. It would seem that any team from Derby downwards could occupy that 3rd relegation but looking at the remaining fixtures, IMHO, Sandbach, with Bees and Broadstreet away in the final 3 games, have the toughest run in and might find themselves there. However, with 9 wins under their belt already, they may be subject to the London Welsh reprieve.

Back to more important matters, with the unpredicted Sandbach-Bedford draw, no one had the full house (a remarkably rare event this season) but 6 points went to Cobbler, Rdh160 (and I have assumed is the new nome de plume for Rich160) and Westwood1944 (Harvey Mac is very upset) Clap

Welshwonder continues to occupy the top spot Star but has had his lead cut to 1 point so, with 3 games remaining, there's all to play for.

It must have been the weekend for crazy games, as the Longton v Derby match was the most unbelievable I think I've ever seen!

Derby were ruthless in the first half, leading 22-0 after twenty minutes and 32-7 at half time. It was still 32-14 with 8 minutes to go, but a converted try gave Longton hope at 32-21. However Derby looked to have ridden it out as the game went into added time, but a penalty try brought it back to 32-28 with just enough time for the kickoff. Longton caught it, hit it up, then spun it wide and managed to get the ball into the hands of Sam Evans who finished it off with the last play of an incredible comeback!

Well at least we were sunk by a quality player!

It looks highly unlikely that there will be 3 down from Nat 3 Mids this year so from Longton upwards I think teams have done enough.

Is it confirmed that the best placed 3rd bottom team will survive? I've heard it said in various places, but not seen it officially confirmed.

Yes Redskins. If you read the regs there is a section specifically dealing with this scenario.I posted them on another thread dealing with London Welsh I think. If it impacts level 5 (which it does) it is the best third from bottom side in the four leagues that is reprieved. Longton will be fine.

I hope so, and I have every confidence that you're right, but I'd still be alot happier in general if we could squeeze our way up the league a couple of places. Fixtures could lead to any number of permutations yet!
On another note, it's a real shame to lose Bedford Ath again. Good luck in bouncing back next year. Hopefully we'll still be in N3M to welcome you back!
