Surprised to see Chinnor so low down.  Just demoted from Level 4 after several seasons.  Are they realy that poor?

You're not wrong I have them down as 4th on my scrap of paper but that seemed to get mixed in the spreadsheet.... Embarrassed

No they (we) are not - but we will see.

Most of the local players from last season are still with us and there are also some players who used to play for Chinnor 2 seasons ago who are coming back.

Pre-season is going well and we are really looking forward to the first game against Bournemouth.

Not quite, but close:

2005/2006 SW1 Champions
2006/2007 Relegated to SW1
2007/2008 SW1 Champions
2008/2009 Relegated to N3SW

It wouldn't surprise me to see Chinnor come straight back up again.

Ultimately, Chinnor were very unlucky to drop last season and I too would expect them to make an early return. IIRC, in both their promotion seasons, they ultimately edged it in close races so much will depend on whether there is an outstanding team in the division that is currently off the radar.

I had a season playing for Chinnor back in the days when they actually played in Chinnor, so have a soft spot for the club.

Hi Chris,

If you enter "Thame Hotels" into Google, it will give you links to the hotels very close to Chinnor. Dont forget that we are actually in Thame not at Chinnor - long story!

Look forward to seeing you up at Kingsey Road.

Cheers
Dave

Interesting list, but after a year back in SW1 or whatever we have to call it now, I would like to add a couple of comments.

Old Pats won't top the list and probably don't want to, Chinnor almost certainly will, Bournemouth will probably occupy the second spot, the jump from SW2 to SW1 is massive so I believe Taunton will do well to come third/fourth in their first season, even though they are signing players. Cleve will be stronger this year and Coney Hill will start well and then just do enough not get relegated, I think Chippenham are strong favourites for the drop.

Interesting this year to see how clubs cope with their financial positions, it is shame Bracknell are no longer around, reading between the lines their huge budget has been slashed and it would have been great to beat them after last years heartbreak.

It will definitely be interesting especially as we have Bonus points this year, first time for a lot of clubs to experience this
