Thanks Darth. I hope you're right. The only news on the playing front to have come out of Redruth since the final game of last season is that Marek Churcher has stepped down as head coach. I would hope that you're right in your prediction about what happens early doors (although Wimbledon have the potential to be a banana skin if they recruit and or tap into Harlequins ties), but will keep my powder dry until I hear some positive news out of the club regarding a new coach and player retention.

Are there any easy games in N2S? I think not, but time will tell.

Just saw that on Chinnor site - statement of intent with a lot of height/weight being added.

TP.........I predicted Chinnor would win the leage last year and they let me down.....I will be gobsmacked if they do so again.  They lost the least games but still came up short ?  Perhaps a bit unfortunate as many have been in the past, to be in competition with two other very strong sides in the same season.  I suspect that that will not be the case this year, but who knows ?

RoD.....you made a point much earlier which I forgot to respond to.....you told us Churcher had left the club ?  I am a bit shocked.  I thought he was doing so well.

I've made it plain the past that I thought the old, forward dominated Redruth game plan would struggle to get them out of this division (upwards anyway Wink).

I thought that the new and more expansive Redruth were athletic and entertaining to watch, plus picked up loads of TBP's.

Why did he leave and how has that decision been received by the Redruth faithful ?

P.S.  what happened to Ducker ?  He seemed to have disappeared in the last third of the season and this may have cost a few close results ?  He WAS a matchwinner Ouch

Enough said when you can "afford" to take Bentley on as a player coach !!!
God help the rest of us.
As an aside but also Chinnor based look out for Alex Bradley next season.

It's always hard to assess how good a coach is as the waters are muddied by the the squad available to them, but I felt that Marek's influence was clear (for the better) when he joined the coaching team and more so when he became head coach, so I'm very sad to see him go. The new setup brings continuity with Nonu stepping up and the addition of Gareth Tedstone maintains the links with Exeter.

I believe that he was suffering with injuries towards the end of the season, although he did manage to turn out for Cornwall in the Tamar Cup, unfortunately communication from the club on things like this is sadly lacking. The rumour mill say that he's bound for greater things next season. I totally agree about his influence on games, his ability to beat players added an extra dimension to the Reds back line that was hugely effective in the style of rugby that Redruth played last season.

In other news and seeing that this thread has become a dumping ground for all things N2S, I see that Talking Rugby Union's team of the season is out:

Interesting to see that Redruth's Shaun Buzza gets the nod despite four others featuring ahead of him for Cornwall in the BB campaign (assuming he's fit / available).

For those questioning Stortford's pack's ability to survive in N1 next season, they have 3 members in the dream team !

No doubting their ability in Nat2
Its their survivability in Nat1 that is questioned
