Nick, I was at Coventry but was informed all members had been notified of the coverage, however I for one hadn't had an email about it - I wonder how many others had not been notified?

The intended coverage was advertised on the club website a few days in advance.
Mr Gavin also mentioned it in his website preview.

I was also at the actual game and became very mindful of the positioning of microphones that may have picked up my usual partisan bawling. I hope not for the sake of all those back home.

Website - still says next home game is Clifton on 24th, no sign of Saturday's game v Canterbury - so totally unreliable.

I was at the game, my point was if it had been better advertised there may have been more at HQ for the broadcast.

I feel it is a good initiative, hopefully it will continue for those unable or unwilling to travel to away games.

Steve (999).....FWIW....I have passed your name on and you should be getting the email now.  Don't know why you were missed.....perhaps they were trying to keep the rowdy Crawley element out TongueWink

At this stage of the season it's better to play mid-table sides I'd have thought. Factor in the current form of teams at the wrong end of the table and that's accentuated.
Agree that Barum will have only themselves to blame if it all goes wrong. No 'Get out of jail' cards being bandied around this year!

OMG  Shocked  Have we been hacked ?  A northern interloper ?  Is Putin behind this ? TongueWink

I think we need to beef up security quite quickly.

While that is being dealt with.....Kimbo.....what do you think are your chances of making the playoffs ?  I am guessing you are a Hinckley man ?  Also.....can you beat Chinnor ?   There is a fantastic battle going on for that second spot in Nat2N......I am following it with great interest.  It seems that your lot might be the only northern side that might have a pack that would trouble the Thame boys ?  Is Alex Salt fit ?  He seems almost talismanic to your efforts this year ?   The others look more like backs sides.....who in fairness, might struggle against the Chinnor lads away from home ?  They are very good. Who knows ?  I look forward to this annual confrontation as ever.

Ah, well, y'see (another nitpick geography lesson coming up. They're free, so don't panic). 'The North' starts a bit further up. Somewhere in a line with that Nottingham or so I'm led to believe. You can tell when you get there; there's tripe curry on the menu.
Me, I'm Rugby-born, Cov-bred, Hinckley-honed.
Messrs Salt & Co don't float me boat though, although Leicester Road is handy for a drink & rugby session when my lot are away and I don't fancy the drive.
I try not to make a habit of it though.

Drat.....that new firewall is not working at all....so Kimbo.....the inckley label is a bit mis-leading ?  Who are your team ?  Are you perhaps one of Rowland Winters's boys ?   Do let us know.  Good to hear from you regardless.

The 'incleh location was spot on last time I looked.
Yep. There it is again.
No, yer maun is correct, I follow Cov.
I guess, having been dragged up in the shadow of the former gasworks where the Ricoh now stands, I could be excused for switching allegiance to The Cuckoos, but I couldn't be so shallow. I'd be more likely to watch 'street (who were also walking distance before they moved (twice!)).

Well it's a pretty good time to be a Cov fan Kimbo !   What a season......all wins except that strange drubbing against Club.....where did those 60-odd points come from ?

Your new DoR, Mr Winter, has an impressive recent track record.  He did very well at Cambridge and I believe, brought a couple of very good players with him when he moved.  All plain sailing through into the Championship now.  Best of luck.

At the beginning of January I was fairly comfortable with the Barum position and April run-in 'Raider' but the bottom 3's performances since then have changed things a lot. I now give us just a 50-50 chance of survival.

As Level7 (so accurately IMO) pointed out.  You are probably better off playing against mid-table sides in the run-in.  No Nat2S side (in my experience) is ever going to roll over through lack of motivation, but the extra 10% or so that comes from fighting for your Nat2S life can be a decisive factor.

I did think that Clifton might join Dons and Broadstreet in the drop, but they too are responding to the challenge now and it is very difficult to see who will win this stupendous battle.  Looking at the remaining fixtures for the bottom six (I don't believe anybody else can be pulled into it now) , I could make a case for all of these teams winning at least four of their remaining fixtures.  I think that all have reasonable to good recent form too.  There are going to be many thunderous games on the run-in as a lot of these sides play each other.

Honestly....I have no idea how it will ed, so will stay with my prediction that Clifton will join Dons and Broadstreet in the drop....I think they have the tougher finish.

The battle in Nat2N to see who face Chinnor continues to intrigue.  It looks pretty certain now that the game will be played at Thame though.  COME ON CHINNOR !!

Otherwise,  the Rams v Titans battle is fascinating to observe and (as noted somewhere above) , the game on the 24th of this month will be a big one.  Titans have a few players gone missing at a key stage ?

How long is Prior out for ?  I thought he was their most impactful player.

Another interesting day in our league....with some great rugby played in tough conditions.

The Choppers let me down again.  I keep thinking that their mighty home form will at some point translate into effective away form.  To be fair, they are not far away, scoring lots of points on occasions, but shipping them too and not getting the results.
Great game though with 10 tries.....must have been good to watch.
I think the Wild Geese now have 50pts ?  Two more wins would probably guarantee them another season in this league SmileSmile   Maybe less.

No letup from the leaders in our division.  Clinical wins by both Cinders and Chinnor against Old Reds and Barum respectively.  I'm sure that the relegation battlers in these encounters would have been hoping for at least one point ?  Not to be Ouch

Clifton took maximum advantage in beating lacklustre BSE and picking up 5pts on the day.  A very good win that heralds a continuing upturn in form as they too, try to battle away from the relegation zone.  Big game for them next week at The Rugby Park ?

Broadstreet got within 8pts at The Slade........but like most, got edged out by the combative TJ's outfit.  They don't get TBP's but they do enough to win a lot of games.  Despite their recent resurgence, I think I heard a trapdoor closing after this last narrow defeat.  I hope that they are straight back out of Nat3M next year if that is the case....and perhaps get an easier ride in Nat2N next time. ?

The conditions at The Rugby Park today, did not suit running rugby and so, not the preferred playing style of either side.  Raiders dominated the first period, with the weather conditions in their favour......kept the City Side to a nil but could not break through a determined defence very often.

We also probably had the better of the second period....scored two more tries and camped on the Canterbury line, leading 22-7  with less than 5mins to go.  The visitors then scored a dramatic breakaway try from inside their own 22.....we picked up another yellow card.....they scored again and some of our older fans gave their incontinence pads a good workout in the final minute or so.  Not fun in such cold weather I can assure you OuchWink    Still another home win and we might have settled on the best arrangement of our available backs (at last !).  Onwards and upwards Smile

With the top 2 places looking done and dusted the big battle is at the basement. Very good 5 pointers for Clifton and LIWG last Saturday has helped their cause no end.
Looking at this weeks fixtures there is a very good chance that Barum's cushion from the red zone will be reduced to just 3 or 4 points going into the last 4 games.
To this end I have been looking at all the relegation contenders remaining games and totalling my predictions and come up with the following (which will no doubt prove hopelessly wrong Big smile) .   Broadstreet and Wimbledon will be joined by either Barum, Old Reds or Clifton for relegation. The pivotal game for Barum and Old Reds will be their meeting on April 14th - whoever wins that could well be safe.

I think the only team who have no realistic chance of survival are Broadstreet, but even they are playing well and could deal a hammer  blow to Old Reds hopes this Saturday.  If Old Reds could manage 5pt in that fixture, they then have Raiders and Barum at home in successive weeks.  Two more wins and they might well be outside the bottom 3 for the last couple of fixtures ?
Even Wimbledon still have a chance and I can see four successive games where they will believe a win is possible.  Barum at home to Dons on the last day could yet assume massive significance.......the home team will be hoping that Dons have nothing to play for by then.
All will become just slightly clearer, week by week......Clifton, Barum and the Wild Geese all have big matches this week and will be massively motivated for 80mins to pick up every point they can.
I suspect that the Wild Geese will play themselves completely out of trouble in the next 2/3 weeks though.  Exciting stuff !!

Another little twist might be some easier games against the top 2 for whoever might encounter them.
I think Chinnor only need two more wins really to be sure of both promotion and a home playoff, though it could be a while before that is arithmetically assured.  Likewise, Cinders could tie up the title early, such is the gap now to the third placed team.
It would make a lot of sense for Chinnor to start resting players just as soon as they can as they have the playoff as a clear priority.

Agree with you about LIWG 'DR' which is why I did not include them. I must admit I did not consider Cinderford or Chinnor fielding weakened teams.
I cannot see Barum getting anything this coming week and Old Reds must be strong favorites to beat us on their ground (Barum have only won three times in two seasons away from home). As well as Wimbledon are playing I cannot see them getting enough points although you never know.
If I was forced to name the three relegation teams it would be Broadstreet, Wimbledon and Barum.

Broadstreet are 17 points behind Barnstaple in 13th place - too much to do in 5 games
Wimbledon are 12 points behind Barnstaple in 13th place - very difficult in 5 games

That leaves Old Reds currently on 39, Barnstaple on 47 and Clifton on 48.

My thoughts give Clifton 1 more win out of the 5, Barnstaple 2 and Old Reds 2 or possibly 3.

That would probably see Clifton relegated - however I still think we will have a better idea when the bottom 6 play each other on the 14th April.
