I see Chinnor alsoturned out against Beckenham on Saturday.  What was that game like and how strong were both sides?

Think Old Pats will win this division - recruited well, finished the season superbly and know how to win this league.

I am not sure they want to go up though. Few teams will win on the Everest but they can be scratchy away from home.

The result was 13 to 27 to Beckenham.

The Chinnor team was a selection of 2nd and 3rd team players as we had a number of players away and also ran the 1st XV at Bracknell.

From the sound of it it was an okay game but as it was the 1st outing for Chinnor 2nds dont think we should read too much into it.

This weekend against the RAF will be a better test for Chinnor I feel.

Favourites from my end are Chinnor (of course) and Bournemouth.

As for going up - we have been there 2 times in the last 3 years and its expensive and hard to compete at that level.

The Cornish All Blacks have named a 27 man squad for their final 1st xv pre season clash against Taunton this Friday (8.00pm kick off at Taunton).

Director of Rugby, Jon Hill Comments 'Two complete packs have been named within the squad in what will be the final opportunity for everyone to try and force their way into the Cinderford selection discussion. In certain positions we have upto 3 people vying for one spot, and this has made our pre season programme very competitive and focussed.

We have had a number of games at both 1st and 2nd xv level so that every fit player has had a good opportunity to express themselves through valuable game time and the game against Taunton will be crucial for us to finalise the match day squad for next week. You only have to look at the nine jersey with Ed, Ben and Lewis, and the 15 jersey with Jon, Kieron and Mal to realise that we have a number of players who can play in different positions and that we have healthy competition for places. Only 20 players can travel on the 1st xv bus next week and that leaves at least 7 of this Friday's squad who will miss out. Add in some other members of the squad who will be returning from injuries or periods of unavailability and that represents the strength in-depth that we feel is required to play week in week out league rugby at this level. It is now up to these players to earn the right to the jersey and keep it through being consistently good at what they do, both in training and on match day.

This weeks squad includes a 1st xv debut for fly half Mike Provis and a first ever 1st xv squad selection for popular centre Dan Prout. Mike has only recently returned from playing in Australia and has impressed in the pre season games he has been involved in. This included Tuesday's comfortable 2nd xv victory over Tavistock 1st xv (31-14), a game in which Dan Prout was another standout performer. Dan has had torrid injury problems since graduating from the Launceston Mini Junior Section a number of years ago. Undoubtedly this year is a big one for him, and we are all hoping that he can go injury free and prove to us all how good he can be.'

Taunton 3 - 20 Launceston
Well as promised it was a really good test for Taunton and I think they performed really well.  In the first half Taunton matched Launceston move for move and they were rewarded with even stevens score 3 - 3, the 2nd half saw Launceston make changes that probably reflected their starting choice for their 1st league match.  Again Taunton were holding their own albeit Launceston's power in the scrum and maul was awesome however Marshall Cormack was 'Yellow Carded' 10Mins into the 2nd half just after they gave away another 3 point kick and Launceston took advantage and scored 2 converted tries while we were down to 14, on Cormak's return taunton again held their own and kept the all Blacks at bay.......

Great Game.......

Nice one Taunton, good score and good squad development. I wonder what CAB's thoughts are.
