Looking at the signing being made in Nat 1 it is going to be an amazingly competitive league . . with Chinnor, RP, Roth and OE's being the early favourites!!!!

Not really declining promotion, would be insisting on relegation - can they even do that within the rules of the Championship/National Leagues?

Well one thing is for sure . . its a complete mess and ridiculous the RFU cant get a grip of it . . everyone needs some certainty. Presumably clubs are or have booked trains, buses and accommodation. Anyone this is probably not for this thread.

Anyway Leeds demise has certainly bolstered Roth's ranks, it has given them a great opportunity to bounce back to Champ.
Run with it

Great opportunity?

For less fixtures ?

I would say Richmond have a great opportunity.....to turn down the chance to replace Leeds.

Far better here. The Championship is not sustainable.

I suppose it depends how Richmond view it.

If, as you say, the Championship is unsustainable - why are there 3 or 4 big-spending teams trying to get there?

Equally if Richmond want to return to the Championship, replacing Leeds would be their easiest opportunity in the short term - although word has it Leeds are not going easily.

Now that is a good question. Misguided optimism perhaps.

Having been there (and it’s been the same for the 25 years I’ve been following the game) it will be fruitless.

Given a level playing field I would say good luck to them. Unfortunately the playing field is not level, never has been and never will be.

The Prem teams are all for themselves and the RFU are all about England.

There’s a ton of money up there but getting a share of it is another matter.

Can’t have the working classes getting above their station can we ?

I had rose tinted glasses then but I now see it for what it is.

Wow that’s a lot of players from a team that got relegated from N2! Puts into perspective how lucky Roth are to benefit from the demise of YC...feels like we need to have a real crack at getting back up this season as I don’t think we will again! That said with the rugby rumours of Park and with the squad Chinnor and OEs have announced not to mention DMP, Blackheath, Plymouth and of course Richmond who surely will be there or there abouts, this feels like it could be an insane season with at least 8 teams beating each other every week! Me thinks we have an even more insane league than last year! Not the time to announce a load of Bees players as core squad members! It could be a long season for Moseley! It’s not a nice year to be the three promoted teams either!

But we believe only two sides will go down this season - unless there is wholesale reorganisation.

Actually my money is on 14 team ring fenced premiership - no championship and a 16 team National 1 with ~£250k a years each from RFU. So half what Championship currently get.

That would be 7 down. So I suspect the Regional Premier leagues would be increased to 16 teams.
You are now two teams short over the 4 leagues.

of course hat does not fix levels 6,7 and 8 which is where the real problem lies.

Not next season Camquin, potentially the one after that. But if you look at the signings some of the clubs are making, in the championship, Newcastle may have a fight on their hands so it might not be plain sailing with the potential for the wrong teams (according to PRL) being in the Premiership. I do so hope that this is the case and they are made to reconsider the guff that they spout.
Onward and Upwards C'mon Donny!

I quite agree, perpetual promotion for the previous year's relegated side does nothing but enhance the case for ring-fencing the Premiership.

We desperately need a different club to be promoted!

Clearly you have a in depth understanding of the quality of these ex Bees players and who will be the core of Moseley's team next season.  Please do tell us more.....

Given the reorg to a 12 team championship was done mid season, I see no reason not to expect a reorg for the 20/21 season.
