I'm off to Bristol V Saracens this pm Mike but good luck this afternoon-no doubt you'll be listening out for the roar/groans from Grove Park just in case.

Best of luck all, let's hope the game of Rugby decides the day & not the man in the middle.

End of the first half
Burnage 3
BP 7

sadly overshadowed by a ridiculous refereeing decision.
The BP prop was at least 6 inches short of the line

fair comment, they were the better team on the day but it’s sad to think that a refereeing error could have led to our relegation

Yes, after a dodgy start to the season the team improved throughout the season. All achieved without any payment whatsoever for anyone not even the Coach. Problem is, can we keep the players. One player already has been offered £200 per game to play for a team who finished below Park. Not the sort of money a young chap can turn down.

However, the other side of the coin, a player we had lost being paid by a North Premier team came back to play for nowt. Unfortunately he is going to New Zealand for a year.

Interesting comment - I still think its ridiculous to pay at this level. £200 a game for a squad of (say) 25 is £5000 ( assuming a degree of parity) which requires a crowd of 1000 paying a fiver just to cover a home game.

Weve had the debate before and I remain confused by RFU rulings etc. I think I'm right in saying Andy Coslett is ex B Park ( indeed he played for Port as well) but guess he has bigger fish to fry given RFU's problems.

Well done anyway - are we clear where we'll all be next season?

He did, and he is guest of honour at the Club Dinner this year. I doubt if anyone will badger him about player payments at level 6. Smile

£200 ?

Who on earth has that sort of money ?

We don’t pay lads to play but we do pay a couple of physios (one 1st XV one 2nd XV) and we pay our coach (I believe)

and another thing.....

For discussion
Birkenhead Park are due to play Anselmians and Northwich are due to play De La Sale on the 27th.
Is there any point ?
None of the teams can change where they will finish in the league.
In my humble opinion it seems like the very definition of a "dead rubber"

In regards to league position then yeah not really much point.

In regards to much needed gate and bar revenue for the home club then there is a a real point.

Also those games can potentially provide the best spectacle as there is nothing riding on it players can throw the ball around and enjoy the game. Perfect way to end the season if I was one o those players.
WooHoo Waterloo!

Surely...where possible the league should be completed. Both Northwich/Birkenhead could change positions. As could DLS/Anselms.

Realistically in any league there will be games even 3/4 weeks from the end that have no bearing on position.

Unless there is a huge mitigating circumstance for not playing it I see no reason for not finishing the league schedule

They must be played by the end of April - if they are not then clubs are liable to a 5 point deduction for non-fulfillment of the fixture - most probably carried over to next season if no bearing on this
They can only be declared as dead rubbers (ie no bearing on promotion or relegation) if adverse weather forces the fixture beyond the end of April

Tell you what was interesting in the manc loo game... The league had sent down micced up linesmen due to the magnitude of the fixture. Nice touch.

About 15 mins or so in, the linesman told the red something and the ref attempted to send off a supporter! I think the supporter was having none of it so the ref marched over to the Manchester dugout and told their coach, who, looking rather bemused, was told to go over and have a word! Took about 5mins or so. Weird.
