There are four teams in the relegation battle spread over 3 games but only one game where league survival is at stake for both sides.

Moseley need a point to be sure and Caldy need the win. It is going to be a humdinger because both sides know nothing else will save them. Cambridge will have just too much commitment and desire against a Sale side with nothing to play for and I expect the Blood and Sand to secure the bonus point win.

Which of course means that the Moseley game turns into a play off of sorts with the twist that both teams could possibly survive.............but there will be no quarter given and it should be a cracker.

Caldy have been resurgent in their last couple of games with a few of their big players back from long term injury and getting back to some sort of match fitness. Moseley have been on the comeback trail for the last couple of months moving away from what looked like an impossible position earlier in the season.

The match has a David and Goliath feel about it given the respective pedigree of both clubs.......this just could be one of the most important matches ever for both clubs..........home advantage may be the difference as it so often is in play off ties . Billesley Common may well be full and certainly right behind their boys .......it will be crazy

Moseley play Caldy, and a 1-5 match points means both are safe - wonder what the odds are on that

Probably slim because I do not think this is something you can actively manage. Moseley will play flat out knowing if they score 4 tries or come within 7 then they are safe ........but no team can play to achieve just that.

Caldy have to win at Moseley for the first time in front of what is sure to be a vociferous and passionate crowd. It will not be easy however the Caldy Ravers have such a team spirit and some terrific talent they are capable of getting the win as they have shown in the last couple of games.

I am sure the Caldy Ravers will set their stall out in the way they have done so since they ascended to these dizzy heights..........

I agree I suspect it will be hammer and tongs at Mose and no quarter given.
Much more likely they stay up by Cambridge failing at Sale.

So I want a major downpour in Birmingham that rersults in a 3-0 win for mose. With bright  sunshine in Lancashire and Cambridge running in 4 tries.
Which god do I have to pray to?

Not the same god that Esher are praying to hoping for a 4-0 win for Sale and Moseley whilst they seal a bonus point win at Well Hall! LOL

I cannot see Cambridge failing to win at Sale and I expect them to get the bonus point. Sale have nothing to play for other than pride (I am not underestimating that as a driver though) and they could give a run out to some of their fringe players to see what they are made of.

The last game of the season is always a bit of a friendly unless there is something to play for. If Moseley were definitely up I would expect Caldy to prevail for that reason but...........

Moseley need a point
It is a past players reunion
They are a big club with huge pride, pedigree and status
They will view relegation as a real disaster

If Moseley get 4 tries in the first half it is quite conceivable that (unintentionally) they may just take their foot off the gas having expended physical and mental energy in securing survival. It would then be difficult to raise it again once Caldy's fight back gets under way. Who knows ?

That is a scenario I had considered WR but by then it may be a big but not impossible ask for Caldy to win having leaked 4 tries before half time.......think of the irony of Caldy's supporters cheering Moseley's 4th try on the basis that Mose could just then collapse in a heap when all that tension was released.........of course it could also just spur the home side to a 'Harlem Globetrotters' kind of 2nd half leaving Caldy chasing shadows ...........

Oh the glorious tension of it all

You may also have scored a couple yourselves in the first half. Glass must be half full at all times as you know. Best of luck from me.

WR agreed a positive attitude is fundamentally important in these situations and I know that the Caldy lads and coaching staff have that in spades...........and just as importantly (but depending on traffic conditions on the dayConfused) so do the supporters.

Home advantage and Graham's 'iron grip' on Caldy's travel arrangements make Moseley very clear favourites so the Caldy lads will need careful preparation and massive resolve to ensure they at least get to Billesley Common in good time for kick off

BE - One less thing to worry about as the Past Players Reunion was the previous home game against Ampthill. I do think it will be a decent crowd though. Over the last 10 - 15 years I think we've only had the 'pleasure' of mid table security/obscurity a couple of times when not biting fingernails at the business end of the season.
Do you want any pre-match (or post match) suggestions for food/drink or will you be utilising the club facilities?

Two interesting fixtures on the last weekend which might affect some teams selection.

Friday 26th England Under 20's Play South Africa
Saturday 27 Army are playing RAF

Any club sides who include players from those teams in their squads will be affected .

Bill Sley there is in fact a separate past players' do - the 10 year anniversary of the EDF cup win dinner is before the game next week.

Good point Semisonic…………..it's also a Warwickshire County Cricket Club 'special'....reciprocal free entry for members.

I went f.o.c. to the Warwickshire v Yorkshire game yesterday with my Mose card....and there seemed to be a number of cricket members talking about coming for the Caldy game.

I will be travelling for this important game. It is important for a number of reasons:

1. Degys's mum may make some of her incredible Eccles Cakes
2. Mrs Bolognese will be glad I am travelling because I have spent too long at home this season
3. Graham appears to be finally on top of the travel arrangements
4. I have a couple of cases of beer that are only in date until the end of April

Those travelling from Caldy will look forward to being massively outnumbered by hospitable Moseley supporters keen to ply us with drink ..........Win or Lose the Caldy Ravers will most definitely be on the booze
