I have calculated the mileage and it is extremely close between Leicester Lions and Hinckley.

This will be necessary if Canterbury win next week's play-off.

Hinckley just shade it being a total of 2.1 miles shorter distance.

Not Stourbridge?  Much closer to Bristol.

Hinckley are relatively recent visitors.......if they have been level transferred once do they not get some sort of exclusion from consideration for a while.

Plus.....I think Luctonians were relegated from Nat2N last year.......are they coming back up ? If so, they could be favourites with their proximity to the three Brizzle clubs.

I just wonder if with Hinks, Stour, and LL being established N2 clubs whether they'll move Lucs as they are newly back to Level 4 as were Bees last season.

Friendly prop........as I think 999 points out......it has nothing to do with anything other than the total distance travelled to all away games.  So once the composition of both Nat2N and Nat2S is known, as it is now, then the calculations will be made and the next unfortunate will be consigned to the grinding mill of Nat2S.  I think only Ampthill have escaped relegation.....but may well be wrong.  I think Ampthill actually won Nat2S while my lot were having a brief dalliance with Nat1......brilliant experience by the way Deva....highly recommend it whatever the outcome.....some very lengthy away trips though, but such fun.

As I said in a previous post, there are regulations which refer to those who have already been sent South once......I just don't recall exactly what they are, but they might mean Hinckley get a pass ?? THere are many posters on here with a better grasp of these matters than me, we just have not heard from them yet. Smile

we (Hinckley) have done the maths on it, and we are working on the assumption it will be us (have known for about 6 weeks it was a significant possibility). It is tight with Lions as you say, Stourbridge and Lucs dont come it however, it is far to far down to the South East for them - some exciting opportunities and new opposition if it does happen and we have a lot of long trecks anyway up to Yorkshire and the North East, so we aren't too concerned about that impact. We would of course rather stay with our friends in the north, but if it happens, it happens

Hi Stato......does that mean Hinckley no longer have their 'get out of jail free card'  or whatever it is the NCA give you when you get sent South once ?  Either way, welcome again if it is you and I hope you fair much better than last time.....I'm sure you will be better prepared.

we havent asked the question but having looked at the regs, I cant see anything like that in there, and anyway. we have been gone down and come back up since which probs makes it null and void if it does exist

You get a TWO seasons "get out of jail card" if you have previously been Level Transferred, when did Hincks last play down Sarf?

At the conclusion of the procedure described in 13.2.11(e) above, if a club subject of a Level Transfer in the previous season(s) is returned to a league consistent with its Constituent Body or Divisional affiliation other than on promotion or relegation, that club shall be entitled to remain in that League for two seasons provided it is not promoted or relegated at the end of the first season unless it volunteers for a Level Transfer.

My word how time flies......quite frightening really Ouch   It was the 2010-11 season.......seems like yesterday.   Ealing and Jersey went up that year and Hincks were saved from bottom spot by the hapless Newbury, who were in freefall at the time.  Just 4 wins and 24pts for Hincks though.

I'm sure they will do much better this time around.

We do know the composition of N2S with the exception of the Canterbury v Chester play-off.

I suspect that Stourbridge would have been the ones in the firing line had Barnstaple beaten Westcliff! However the extra team in the East has tipped the balance Hinckley's way.

I suspect they will now be cheering Chester on in which case their would be no need for a level transfer, not sure when the leagues were last balanced.

999......there have been surprisingly few level transfers since National 2 was formed in the 2009/10 season.

There has never been a southern club transferred north.
There have only been 4 northern clubs transferred south,

10/11  Hinckley 15th
13/14  Ampthill  2nd
17/18  Broadstreet  16th
18/19  Birmingham & Solihull  14th
Hinckley could well be back next season. Bit of a trend ?  It should become less likely now as by my calculation, there are only 5 northern sides left in Nat1 Ouch
There are 5 Nat2S exports in the Championship now......although the Mond are going back to Nat1.

Unless I missed some level transfers.....it did feel like there had been more ?

Rugby Lions were level transferred in the last season of N3S, 2008-09. They were transferred again in 2012-13 but withdrew from the league so did not compete.
If only Webb-Ellis hadn't given them the ball back!

Heaven forbid but only 5 northern outfits left in National 1 probably means we are due another RFU reshuffle of the leagues !!!
