Hull  RUFC beat Sheffield RUFC 31-5 at the Ferens Ground this afternoon scoring five tries to one
in a good workout for both sides.

Sandbach played an unannounced 'structured' game against Lymm last week but no scores were kept. On Saturday we travel to Kendal for a more traditional warm-up game. On 25th the season proper, starts with a Cheshire Cup/Bowl/Saucer/Plate game against Altrincham Kersal. Going to be an interesting couple of weeks as we see where/if the new players slot into the squad.

Billingham play Otley on Saturday as a return fixture from last season. Should be a good maker for the season. 2.30 kick off at Otley

Preseason full sides? Rolling subs, not a lot to go on yet mate. Hope you have a good season. All the best to Mike B.

Doncaster Phoenix 28 Guernsey Raiders 36

A great game - Guernsey were dominant in the scrum (those boys were BIG) and I think in the end that was what won it for them, they played to that advantage very wisely. The Phoenix looked good when they got the ball moving amongst the backs and the pack, they just had to avoid scrum time and lineouts.....
Onward and Upwards C'mon Donny!

Longton visited Newport on Saturday. Nothing to guage for Newport despite running in a shed load of tries; Doncaster at home on 01 September will be the real indicator of how their season may pan out.

Good win Fudgepacker. Should we read anything into forthcoming season from that?
Must get my predictions done soon, research still ongoing.

Not sure about Burton, but we had a mix of 1st and 2nd teamers playing throughout. My main observation about Burton is that they will have to get used to the pace of the game and become a little fitter if they are to be competitive

76-0 win for Newport over a young inexperienced (apart from Rawlings, Thompson and Wareham) Longton
This to follow on from a 38-36 defeat at Harrogate last week
(Only took a squad of 18 and lost fly half after 2 mins with a slight head knock)
Signs are promising but Mids Prem a much tougher league this time round

We've won all 3 pre-season games comfortably but the win away at Macclesfield was the first big test against a team in the league above. Macclesfield were pretty much at full strength and did not field a weakened side. We've recruited steadily over the summer with lots of enthusiastic young players and a few wise old heads joining us. It all now depends on how we settle into our new ground and how our visitors take to playing on the AGP. There's still lots to do before we open on 15 September.

Well, based on that Fudgepacker we might as well not bother and just let you go up. Wink
We'll see you 1st December and see how things are then Thumbs Up
